I agree they should be paid more, but c'mon. I live in the Northeast and it's 1100 per month just for rent. Compare that to 200-300 per month out west. I seem to be able to get by on 20,000/year so I don't know what they're complaining about.

Where is this out west you speak of?

Colorado.

I also just checked out SF Bay area and the rent for most places is cheaper than here.

If you're in a college city, then that's very low end. Trust me, I'm in Colorado and I just went through this. Granted, my city has higher prices than elsewhere, but $300 a month would be in a really crappy area. Like, you wouldn't feel safe living there.

I don't understand. Are you saying college city is low end? The average studio here is 1000$

I'm talking from experience in college cities. I admit that we have a lot lower rent here than that, but it's not $300 low. I just spent a month looking for an apartment, and the ones I found close to that were in really bad areas. College cities are high end is what I meant. Specifically my city. So I'm not sure about the rest of Colorado.

Oh, I'm just going off of what my gf's dad said the rent was. I think he lives in Aurora.

Now that you mention it, I think that is a bad area, isn't it.

It's not too bad. There aren't any major colleges there, so the rent is probably lower. I'm in Boulder, which has much higher rent than say, Fort Collins, which is another major college city.

I had the idea that much of the midwest had similar rental markets because of the sheer amount of land available. lol Guess not.

The problem is those who go into gaming think they are going to be little Miyamotos and don't realize that the reality is going to be nothing like they dream

of course, they are going to be better ;P

If you're in the middle of nowhere, or Wyoming (I actually like Wyoming, it's a nice place), then you can get land really cheap. But when you get into the major cities in Colorado (Boulder and Denver come to mind), and some places in the mountains (like ski resorts), prices go up quite a bit.

28,000 is more than enough to make a decent living starting out. A ton of people make a hell of a lot less than that and do ok. Hell I make less then half that atm (working part time while in school) and me and my room mate are just fine.

28K may seem good now, but after school you will realize that anything below about 75K won't provide a decent standard of living.  Closer to twice that if you live in an expensive city.

You can thank Sony and MS for this situation. If games weren't so expensive to make then developers could give better salaries to their employees.

LOL 75k? Hahaha seriously! You've just condem like 70% of American below the poverly line. Get real buddy. 75k is a respectable income after 3-5 years in the workforce, starting off at 75k is the exception, not the bare minimum to provide a 'decent standard of living' which I'd really like for you to clarify because it sounds like your decent standard of living is way WAY higher than society's common perception.

Seriously, I don't even live in America and something like this has been drilled into my head going into the work force.

Here, its probably cannot be use as a source without backup since its Wikipedia but it should at least give a rough guideline of real American income both with and without a college education.

my monthly expenditures are arround €1000 and i live in the center of paris.... what kind of life do these guys expect to live? going out every evening poping a bottle of crystal??
I could pay that for myself with what I earn, but I have the good sense to not spend it all for leasure... Some people need to grow up and look at life a different way.

OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO

their pay is enough

no idea how to make this properly work
