KH1 has boring music, I don't even remember a single track from it

I guess The Last Story will be the definitive JRPG for Wii

And yes... I agree his last known work is not that great (KH)...

Actually no, we still would have been disappointed because we all wanted Mitsuda. Xeno + Mitsuda = UBER AWESOMNESS!!!!

Doesn't really matter how mediocre his music has or hasn't become (Lost Odyssey's soundtrack was better than FF VII's for sure) if you think Uematsu was ever a better composer than Shimomura.

Still, I would have prefered Mitsuda. The man has a history with the franchise, and his style is one of a kind.

The Xenoblade main theme is, in my opinion, the best piece she's ever composed. If that continues I will certainly be buying this game. While Mitsuda may be a better composer technically, I've liked fewer of his pieces. So I'm happy that it's Shimomura.

VI was probably the apex of his career, but I'd put it on level with or above VII

Huh? I'm probably splitting hairs here, but I've never heard anyone single out Mitsuda for his technical prowess. He has crafted some incredibly impressive work, but most of what makes him unique comes from his mastery of his own neo-ethnic/folk style and not so much the sophistication of his compositions.

Conversely, Koichi Sugiyama and Michiru Yamane are composers that are well known for their technical mastery, though in my opinion Shimomura isn't far off.

As for who makes better music, that's a personal judgement. It's a little bit sad so many people judge Shimomura on her lesser works, rather than the likes of Legend of Mana, though.
