Nintendo hardware > 50% market share overall. Looks like yet another dominating year coming up.

That's almost always true. What's unfortunate is that Wii < HD. Damn, I can't believe Nintendo reduced production....

Thats cool. 45% market share vs 48% or 52% is still pretty great. Remember the once great Playstation brand with its mighty mega powerful hardware is squelshed under the heel of some cheap $100 last generation hardware. Ditto for the Xbox 360, so why not be happy and smile every week that the two arrogant console makers get their ass handed to them?

Smile!

How is that a good thing? while MS and Sony have repeatedly dropped prices, and MS in particular, has worked very hard to get the most high quality support from 3rd party devs, Nintendo charges more for their console can is necessary, and doesn't care that 90% of software not created with their licenses is shovelware.

Yes, smile if you like platformers and last-gen graphics. And while it's nice to see Sony get knocked down a peg after telling us to get second jobs to pay for their system, Nintendo's hardly doing this for our benefit.

(Also, I'd hardly classify MS as an 'arrogant console maker' considering they entered the market last and were the scrappy underdogs a very short time ago)

Yeah, blame Nintendo for third-parties doing crappy games. Evil Nintendo!

Above: still the best game of the year.

So does this mean the Wii is doomed again? I have a hard time keeping up.

How did Nintendo charge too much? The market paid for what the console was worth not for what the cost of the individual components were. They probably charged too little given the endemic shortages for the first couple of years.

Nintendo are not responsible for the software released on the platform, the people who released it are. Go complain to them or something because I haven't seen Microsoft or Sony declining software for being 'too bad' either.

Microsoft worked hard? Well bully to them. Nintendo worked smart and gave an under-represented userbase an option for a console which suited their needs better and they responded in kind.

If it makes you feel better, Microsoft are slightly less arrogant than Sony. Their PR is still pretty bad even if its better than the worst offenders by a good margin.

I'd love to see how high the Wii and ps3 numbers would be if there were no supply issues.

Guess we'll never know, though.

As of yesterday, we had 8 pre-orders for ps3s at my store, and 10 for Wiis.  What's amazing about that Wii figure it that we get Wii stock on a more regular basis than ps3 stock, so we're selling nearly twice as much per week and we still end up with more Wii reserves on hand at the end of the week.

how are GOW3 & FF13 doing in pre-orders at your store?

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

I still want to know what caused the boost.

Also, Wii is massivley down YoY despite a pricecut and NSMB Wii.

HAHA!

You're so quick to point out PS3 shortages, yet you ignore the console that's having real shortages.

The only shortages i heard about for Wii were mid January. Have they been sorted?

Wiis are impossible to find, just like ps3s. Nintendo has been sending out more stock than Sony, which helps a bit, but there's still far more demand for the Wii than the ps3, so we end up with more people looking for Wiis than ps3s.

Yes We do love platformers but we don't care for graphics since it's good enough for us.

As of yesterday:

God of War - 72
God of War Ultimate Edition - 12 (we've stopped taking reserves on these, actually)
Final Fantasy PS3 - 33
Final Fantasy 360 - 11

It's funny to see how many people don't pick up games, though.  We still have 10 reserves for MAG lolz.

And yeah, I'm a total numbers whore so I check our pre-order figures like 3-4 times everytime I work.  xD

@ hyruken: Just pointing out that plenty of parents and all those kinds of possible purchasers are not exactly the "let's go search online for it"-type of people.

Not saying it's the reason for everything, not even sure about the shortages, but still, not everyone goes to the internet to purchase.

Does the ps3 shortage have anything to do with the two models sony submitted to the fcc?
