Ah, another "praise/kill the review site depending on score" thread. This time it's pitchfork time.

Of all the many hypes we already saw this gen on all consoles, the one which emerged around Heavy Rain during the last few weeks feels like the strangest and most faked one to me. Quick time hype, so to speak.

emporers new clothes...?

I'm getting Heavy Rain and will play it through... but I think there is a strange elite attitude surrounding the game

It is almost as though it is impossible to criticise the game because Heavy Rain is somehow arty and high brow and that means it shouldnt be criticised because the developers have been brave.

Have played around 6 hours since yesterday, for any imature or unrational person this game will not be good. Maybe thats why you get the elite feeling, a young or immature person will obviously not like this game. Its slow, its intelligent, its make you think, its definitly not like our usual blockbuster game. The fact you dont like the game doesnt mean your immature tho, because you may not like the gameplay, story or anything else.

Guys, the Teletext thing is outrageous, sure. But the real action for Heavy Rain is happening on the USER SCORES

As of now 5.2 on 118 votes. I defy anyone here to deny that's nothing else than pure childish XBOX fanboy behaviour. Gee, to think that's the kind of "gamers" you (xbots) socialize with on your paid Gold suscriptions, and the same people who gather around every forum (like these) and defend each other! fucking kids.

That's probably exactly what's going on and that's exactly why they should promptly be ignored.

There are a bunch of zeros for Mass Effect 2 as well under user comments. Fanboys of both systems tend to deflate / inflate scores. This makes user based scoring systems absolutely worthless. That is why there is meta critic.

The vast majority of reviewers (including my favorite site IGN) liked Heavy Rain and the meta score reflects that. I think people here are loosing sight of that.

Have played around 6 hours since yesterday, for any mature and rational person, this game is really good. Maybe thats why you get the elite feeling, a teenager or immature person will obviously not like this game. Its slow, its intelligent, its make you think, its definitly not like our usual blockbuster game.

And there's that attitude people are talking.

It's possible to be mature and not like mature things.  I actually love the idea of Heavy Rain, I just despise quit time events.  I think they are one of the worst things to emerge in the last decade (even worse than the red screen of death).

Does that make me an immature and irrational person?

teletext always does this... is a bunch of pricks trying to get attention.

I really hope you don't think that xbox fanboys are the only ones doing this >.>

Whoa, dont say what I didnt say. Its alright that you dont like QTE, but you would still like the game because theres much more than QTE.

teletext are pathetic reviewers, they wont steer me away from titles i want to play

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

Finally someone who isn't praising the game forsomething like "OMG It will Changez gamez 4Ever dude LOL!", or giving it a 9+ just because of the production values. Also, it seems like people here, din't even read the site, just judjing it by the review.

Above: still the best game of the year.

I don't really care what Teletext has to say about this game.

But I am very surprised to see it currently has a 5.6 user rating on Metacritic based on 130 votes so far. What the hell?

Would you say that it's mature to say things like the bolded? I've played slow and intelligent games that made me think in the past and I've liked some and disliked some. The fact that the game has those traits doesn't mean that

(a) A person who dislikes it is immature, irrational or both

(b) The game is automatically good
