Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Ubisoft offering gaming like EyeToy (or Project Natal?) on Wii

Ubisoft is releasing a new game -- Raquet Sports -- which uses the camera to track motion and permit controller-free gaming.

It also uses a regular Wii controller and a WM+ controller.

Is this the future?

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

If Ubisoft's camera outsells Natal and Arc... it would be an ultimate pwnage in my book

worthy to make a video or a website for that camera if that happens

I seen this kind of thread before but seemd to be ignored, I think this will sell extremely well, if advertised too then it will surley sell megatons, I'm fairly hupedm, arrow in amber zone.

Buying in 2015: Captain toad: treasure tracker,

mario maker

new 3ds

yoshi woolly world

zelda U

majora's mask 3d

Lets hope it will outsell lets dance so the make a sequal to it with the motion camera!

It's out already, and judging by the fact that none of you knew that, it's not going to be a breakaway success on the level of Motion Plus.

Is the camera already available for their fitness game, or is that not out yet?

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

What's sad is that it has a better lighting engine than the new Prince of Persia.

Your Shape is selling okay but getting beaten by EA Sports, The Biggest Losers and others. The camera seems to be a detriment as it's increasing the price but not being seen as a selling feature by most people. Of course, Ubisoft hasn't effectively marketed this either.

The fact they are further supporting their camera with Raquet Sports is interesting but again, without some marketing to generate some hype I think that novelty will be lost on the masses. And frankly, I doubt it'd be better than playing with WM+.

I already have tennis and table tennis with MW+ so it's a non-issue for me and I'm sure most Wii owners will be content with the tennis and table tennis they have in Wii Sports/Wii Play. I don't expect this game to sell.

So it is out.

But, like we say about Natal and Arc, it's the software that will sell the peripheral. If The Wii Sports Tennis clone above was really good and became a big seller, it would drive sales of the peripheral. Not likely though, you don't topple Wii Sports by making a 'better' Wii Sports. Ubisoft would have to make something more original, that can only be done with the motion capturing camera, do drive sales.
