When will 360 start to outsell PS3 WW in 2010?

It won't, PS3 will conti... 529 59.24%

First Quarter (Jan-March) 24 2.69%

Second Quarter (Apr-June) 108 12.09%

Third Quarter (July-Sept) 147 16.46%

Fourth Quarter (Oct-Dec) 84 9.41%

Total:892

Also not sure why people have been mentioning Last Guardian as a system seller. Shadow of the Colossus didn't even sell a million. I think it is just another one of those games people have picked out for doing well like they did with White Knight Chronicles, Lair, Heavenly Sword etc..

The 65% of the voters in this poll will be eating crow very soon. 360 has more console exclusive games than the PS3 in 2010. Natal and more price cuts in 2010. PS3 will remain at the same price point and has Gran Turismo 5 and God of War 3- two possible console sellers. We all know that price cuts are the biggest driving force behind system sales in older systems. Final Fantasy 13 is multi-platform and will sell well in NA region for the 360.

That's a hard case to make, especially with Twisted Metal recently confirmed as a holiday title.

Just look at the first quarter:

MAG
White Knight Chronicles
Heavy Rain
MLB 2010: The Show
Yakuza 3
God of War III

vs

Mass Effect 2

The 360 performs nicely around the middle of the year, with Spliner Cell, Alan Wake, and Crackdown, but things even back out around the end of the year when the ps3 gets Gran Turismo 5, the Last Guardian, and Twisted Metal vs Halo: Reach and Fable III.

Even if you want to look strictly at the total number of games, this is the first time this generation that the ps3 has the larger release list numerically (according to GameStop), mainly because the ps3 has numerous niche Japanese games (3D Dot Game Heroes, Ar Tonelico 3, The Last Rebellion) to balance out the 360's many PC/360 ports (Metro 2033, Supreme Commander 2, Divinity II).

It's impossible to claim that one lineup is bigger/better than the other, from either a subjective standpoint or a commercial standpoint.

@bolded- Indeed, and now it comes down to price and marketing. So we can file that under "who the hell knows?"

I'd say when Halo:Reach launches, Microsoft will start advertising like hell, and it will outsell PS3 for a while.

Why are people who didn't buy a 360 to play Halo 3 or Halo ODST going to start buying 360s to play Reach?

The gap continues to shrink considerably as the ps3's North American sales fall sharply. The shortages in the US are getting worse and worse, which is probably why the ps3 went from selling neck and neck with the 360 a month ago to having 25% less sales this past week.

Things are getting pretty bad. Only one store out of 45 in the New Orleans/Baton Rouge area has any ps3s, and it only has the 250gb sku. On Amazon, it says the 120gb ps3 "Usually ships from 1-2 months."

Guys on gaf are reporting similar shortages to that in Southern Louisiana nationwide:

The 360 could start outselling the ps3 as early as next month, if the shortages only get worse.

Where are the extra millions PS3 at ? that's my question. They shipped 33million, yet sold 30, yet we can't find them in the biggest market in the world. Something is not right.

This could explain some of the shortages:

well I have heard a few people in this forum say exactly that... for both reach and alan wake...

I tend to agree though, I doubt many games are BIG system sellers anymore...   we are 4 and 5 years in for god sake.

It might not be the game itself, but the increased platform awareness that surrounds huge (ie: 10m+ selling) releases can bring in new buyers.   There's going to be a TON of advertising, and a TON of media coverage, 360 is going to be in the general consumer awareness bigtime and it may be enough to bring in a good amount of them.

Also worth pointing out that Halo as a series has been on a continual growth trend... there's a good chance that'll continue and Reach sells more than H3 (just as H3 outsold H2, and H2 outsold H1).  Popular series always gain (and lose) fans, it's not like only Halo 3 buyers will buy Reach (or that all of them will either).

It won't,because Ps3s exclusives are way better imo,and also Blu-Ray is starting to dominate the market.

Since I'm bored, rounding up all the known (western) 2010 console exclusives for 360 and PS3 coming up... doesn't included timed exclusives or downloadables or any project without an actual publisher... I did throw in likely releases though...

I decided to update the list by removing any game that has already been released on console OR DOESN'T have a proper confirmation that it will be out this year. For example GT5 is a game that has slipped multiple times. It is to be confirmed when it is released but most people assume this year. If they said "xmas 2010" release date then it would count, but it is a TBC release date. The same goes with Agent. Nothing at all has been said about the game, no release dates given, it is assumption it will be out this year. Fable 3 only qualifies as they said November 2010.
