We've heard Final Fantasy producer Yoshinori Kitase say that he's interested in recreating Final Fantasy VII for the PlayStation 3 many a time. Now though, Kitase has said that it would only happen if the facilities were there for the development team to remake the legendary title in a year.

Speaking in an interview with TechDigest, Kitase revealed:

"If it were possible that we had all the right facilities and the right environment to be able to make and prepare a Final Fantasy VII remake within a year, we'd very much like a go at it! But even Final Fantasy XIII has taken over three and a half years to create. If we were to recreate final Fantasy VII with the same level of graphical detail as you see in Final Fantasy XIII, we'd imagine that that would take as much as three or four times longer than the three and a half years it has taken to put this Final Fantasy together! So it's looking pretty unrealistic! But if any such situation came about by any remote chance, then yes, we'd do it!"

So its looking unrealistic, but there's still a glimpse of hope

So seriously... 10+ Years just to recreate FF7 using FF13 engine?

I smell bahuuuulshizzle.

I claim BS, they have a story already, they have character models that just need small updates instead of complete ones, and they have an engine now.

Also when i say character models i don't mean the actual 3d models themselves i mean they have a Basis for what everyone should look like.

I would be happy with a basic upgrade, it doesn't have to be FF13 quality it just has to look good.

They could get 1m volunteers to come to Japan and get it done in a few months!

How could it take 10 years? All they need to do is make some new backgrounds, they have CG models of all the characters and the story plotted out. I suppose most of the work would be VA

Even though I wasn't too big a fan of FFVII, I'd still buy it, I mean I've tried getting into VII again, many times, but the graphics just put me off so god damn much (See, I never have that problem with IX, since it looks beautiful for a PS1 game)

I mean, It'd be nice to see it even in PS2 styled graphics, atleast it'd be an improvement, and just throw some extra AA over it, upscale it, basically give it a "God of War Collection Makeover" and hey presto that's playable by me.

But I can't see why they couldn't make it to be honest... and secondly, shouldn't it be Nomura talking about it? I can't remember what his relation to the game was, I'm probably getting him mixed up with someone else, cause I'd imagine him just being the art designer, but whatever, lol.

I dont need a complete remake, just take what you got, ovehaul the graphics to at least ps2 level, and add a few new Summons, Materia and Limit Breaks and i would be happy.

I DO jump on anything FF7 Remake related and steal it.
