One of the reason I don't compare consoles and handhelds is because you only buy one console for a family whereas each member has their own handheld (thanks Pokemon). Handhelds have a much wider potential userbase because of that.

While the SNES did quite well in that department, the PS2 had a larger percetange of exclusive third party support. The SNES lagged behind the Genesis in sales for almost 3 YEARS where as the PS2 dominated from the opening bell and never looked back.

How can it say hello when it's still a few million behind? DS can try to say hello but PS2 is so far ahead it might not hear it..

Does not compute.
While DS don't make a turn around it is impossible to it outsell the PS2.
DS needs to ship more units per quarter than PS2 but what is happening today is PS2 shipping more units than DS.
The gap increased in over 500k in the last two quarters.

Is it? So we are not tracking a console which is selling more than 1/2 consoles in this site?
How is that possible?

I don't know why PS2 was not tracled here anymore... I think that because it sell in places that VGC doens't have any ideia how the videgame market is (Latin America, Asia, Other Europe, etc).
Sony and Nintendo forecast for the fiscal year is 3 million PS2 and 2.5 million DS... so Sony expect to ship more PS2 than Nintendo DS.
