No, no, good sir, the more micromanagement, the better.

Exactly how I feel. I would still take Civ II over III and IV any day.
At least this time the graphics look fine. I've hardly met another game series where the graphics take a step backwards. Civ IV looked horrible and way inferior to Civ III IMO.
I had Civ 2 (and loved it), and then got Civ 4 and loved what the did with Civ 4. I'm not too keen on hex tiles due to always playing Civ with square tiles, but I'm willing to give it a shot if really is an improvement on 4. I guess the benefit of hex tiles is that you can't go "through" an enemy line, but Civ 2 wouldn't allow you to move from 1 side to another side of the same enemy which allowed you to create diagonal barriers.
EDIT: don't know how many people read the article, but they are adding units that can attack from behind the front lines, which sounds awesome.

In that case, I hope they design the game so that there's a mode that's fun for me to play once technology hits around 1900 levels, and a mode for people like you who get lots of little units and commands to fiddle with from the get-go.
I would always love Civ 4 right up until machine guns start showing up. Then the game just got bogged-down and tedious with too many damn unit types.

Between Elemental and THIS (not to mention Starcraft II, Diablo III and others), this is going to be a great year.
PC GAMING IS BACK!
Now, if they announce Alpha Centauri II, I'd just die of happiness.

That is awesome. I always thought it was retarted that to attack with catapults, you have to directly engage it with the enemy forces.

Hey, that's what the mods are for! You can probably find a mod like that for Civ 4 as well.

How come? |
I don't know. Each game has improved the formula... yet I seem to get less and less fun out of each game.
Real hard to explain honestly.
Either way, i'm going to have to drop by the fanatics forum and pick up a couple mods and try my luck when i'm more in the mood.
