Well, I generally hate rushing. It's by far the most effective strategy in all RTS games, but even if I'm the rusher and end up winning, it's not very satisfying if the opponent is taken off-guard. I feel cheap. Only if the game is between good players that can defend a rush (or he rushes too), rushing can be fun.

Are you a good rusher?

I'm decent at both rushing and standard play. I agree that usually, rushing feels cheap. But at this point, at such an early stage in the game, before any standard rush or cheese had been invented and standardized yet, inventing a rush and making it work can be incredibly satisfying since noone has done it before^^

Oh well, if you can't out cheese a korean, there is simply no way to beat them other than to practice until your micro/macro is at korean level, wich is possible since they are not unbeatable gods or something. I expect that if SC2 gets E-sport status in the west that we are going to see lots of professional players on par with the koreans since more people will play it.

Another way would be if the mechaically better player that you're facing simply goes the wrong opening build order against your opening. Then a win is possible.

That I certainly agree with! The evolution phase of strats in an RTS can be very very exciting.

Allrighty

I have played online a few times now and it's awesome^^

any questions about the game?

Do the different races "feel" like they did in Starcraft? Did you notice some balance problems?

Well, It's hard to tell if stuff is unbalanced since it's so early, but Dark Templars are possibly too powerful. Their attack speed seems to be a little faster, their movement speed is faster, and they now deal 45 damage. 2-3 DTs could take out 3 Helions plus two marauders and the rate at wich they massacre workers is ridiculus. This combined with the energy of the Orbital command being requred for M.U.L.Es and not for scanner sweeps makes it very easy to force the terran into wasting minerals on turrets.

The races actually feel a little more similar, and it's not because of their units or their tech, but in how you control their armies. Terran siege pushes are no longer effective (From what I've seen) And the pathing for Zerg units make the Zerg armies not look big at all. I suppose that many ways to micro the different units haven't been invented yet, but for now I found thart most battles were attack moving a ball of units and either winning and continuing to push, or losing and pulling back. The pathing AI is so good that you won't have to manually spread or flank your units, the AI does everything like that for you.

Otherwise, the Zerg feels more Zergy than ever (except that Hydras are now very expensive, and I haven't gotten used to that yet). Protoss feels like Protoss, and Terran feel like terran. Some new tings even enhances the feel, like how Protoss can warp in units, and how Zerg can make their larvae appear faster using the queen.

These are my first impressions, I might change my mind the more I play.
