According to VGC numbers, Forza 3 is at 2.39 million sold to consumers.

But according to this article, Microsoft and Turn 10 are now celebrating that the game sold more than 2 million.

So, is it overtracked?

2.39M = More than 2M

this.

And MS might did not count the bundles.

Rinse and repeat:

Um the article states it has now sold OVER 2 million. Last time I checked 2.39 is over 2 million

It says that Microsoft and Turn 10 are now celebrating that they have sold over two million. Which to me sounds like sales aren't a lot higher than two million, or Microsoft and Turn 10 are just slow. That's why I ask if Forza 3 is overtracked.

Then there is the deal of us not knowing what numbers they are talking about. What if it is just over two millions sold to retailers?

Again, I ASK if Forza 3 is overtracked.

Lol, this is a website about videogame sales. Why wouldn't we care if the numbers are off?

But yes, 2 million is great still

I wonder how many of those were sold through bundles

If theres 2.4m units sold, the shipped total would probably be close to 2.5m. So it would make more sense to celebrate 2.5m units sold to retail than "over 2m".

So it probably is overtracked but like i said, this site still got that 1-2% margin for error. But since its such a tiny thing its not adjustment-worthy.

2m > 2.5m looks more like 25% to me....

There are plenty of explanations: they might not take in account the bundled units, OVER 2 million might mean anything, maybe the news was posted a bit late. Or maybe VGC is overtracking it a bit, but even then I doubt that its more then 5-10%. There can be plenty of explanations

Over 2 million can be anything, I don't know why you think that the sales aren't a lot higher than two million based on this statement (actually, 2.39M isn't a lot higher than 2M, it's just 400k of difference). There is no proof that it's overtracked just because he said "over 2M", so we can't be sure of what he is talking about.

"Over 2M" is different from "aren't a lot higher than two million".

@STEKSTAV

2.5M is also "over 2M", so again, there is no proof or solid numbers, we can't be sure of what he is talking about.

I'm well aware of that, and if I thought it was most definitely overtracked, I wouldn't have asked if it was. I simply found the news to be odd and potentially conflicting with the VGC numbers, so I wanted it to be seen

@Hisiru - Yeah.. so is 4m. Whats your point. Logic states that you're not going to celebrate "over 2m sold" if you've shipped 2.5m. Over 2m shipped is probably their next bach that put them over 2m sold, why else would you boast the 2m figure when you can claim 2.5m.

My point is: We don't have official numbers (solid numbers), so we can't be sure. Nothing on that link will prove that vgchartz is wrong and the game is overtracked. You can only make guesses and nothing more but you won't find anything there to support your argument because "over 2M" can be anything, it's very inconsistent.

Why would they claim "2.5m"? Just because it's nicer or what? I don't see your point. It's like if you say "it's over 5" and I say "so it's probably 6 or 7 because if it was 8 you would claim 8", it's very inconsistent.
