My personal goal for Dragon Age sales was :
1.5 mill X360 version
1.0 mill PS3
1.0 mill PC
So at least 0.3 mill short if we go by the 3.2 mill shipment, but maybe more shipments are to come.

I think its mostly the PS3 that is short. I think that situation will improve by the time DA-2 comes out though.
Going back to the previous topic, about the 500k... well yes, we are saying the same thing. However what I am trying to say is the timing makes it extremely unlikely that those 2010 shipments are "retail box" shipments, because thats not how retail typically operates. However that is how DD operates... sales are reported and royalties paid on a schedule. There is a good chance the updated figure represents sales/royalty reports for say, the months of December and January. Not that I know exactly what that schedule is, but I do know after launch week reports it is at least monthly or bi-monthy, sometimes tri-monthly. I only know for sure in regards to some small devs/pblishers though (which are bi or tri), so who knows what deal EA has worked with Steam/Impulse/etc.
Because I do think EA is including DD sales in the "shipped" numbers. It just so happens that for DD e-tailers, a "shipped" copy is also a "sold" copy. Sell-through is 100% on DD
Make more sense now?

Yes it does! I understood the green part now, and I hope your theory is right (about the timing/lag of DD shipments)!
Even if we take the high end of PC estimates it's obvious that EA's decision to port to consoles has paid in spades. The original could sell 2.5 on PS360 or almost 3 times the PC version LT. If DLC like awakenings sells another 1.5m at $40 the IP went from recovering 5 yrs. dev. costs to some real profit.
IMO the PC sales will tail off more quickly because of piracy and dlc sales must compete with a strong mod community. Smart move for a small sacrifice in Bioware's reputation for quality.

Actually it is usually the opposite, Piracy on PC is highly front-loaded whereas long term sales on Console are cannibalized by the used market.A lot of people also wait for the first price drop on PC games, we all know that here soon Steam an co will have an "EA sale" and DAO/ME2 etc will be discounted to 30$ for a weekend and sales will get another bump.
I do agree on the decision to go multiplatform though, there is no reason not to take a AAA game to all 3 major high end platforms these days.
However, I do not think it tarnished the rep for quality - the PC version was slightly different and did indeed play to the PC strengths and overall I have not gotten the impression at all from the community at large that many people think of DAO as being a "crappy console port" the reviews of the different platform versions also back this view.
I am just happy EA is getting some traction with their new, improved management. I honestly thought they would, but it is still a good thing to see happen. I actually look forward to EA games now that they are creating things that I actualy want to play and not sticking retarded DRM on everything / rehashing the same 2nd rate crap.
Xelloss: Just to clarify, any drop in quality was from the PC primary dev. platform to the consoles. This site gave the 360 version 83 and PS3 85 because of textures in screen shots. A look at Bioware's DA PS3 forums indicates real concerns about framerate drops on that platform so maybe they should be rated about the same. The PC is certainly best for graphics, ease of interface and of course mods. Reviewers give PC a clear edge.
Minor problems with promo dlc delivery, achievement probs. and a failed patch are mostly EA issues so perhaps BW hasn't lost face. The port to 360 is far from crappy but it does have target, sound and save game issues and a dexterity bug that handicaps rogues. I am much happier with the game as is than without.
Your take on PC vs. PS360 sales patterns is an eye opener. Maybe it will be more like 2-1 LT PS360 to PC or 360, PC then PS3 for 3.5m or more. This IP is alive and well.
