I agree with the list, im just trying to understand IGN.

You can't grade ME:2 when it comes to the best games of 2010 since 2010 isn't over yet.  Uncharted 2 came out in '09

Im not grading it as the best game of 2010. This list is for overall games from whatever generation, and IGN went out and claimed that Mass Effect 2 was better than Uncharted 2. So if Uncharted 2, according to IGN, is on the top 10 list of best games of all time, why isnt Mass Effect 2 on that list?


Or am i missing something?

EDIT: Oh this was best of the decade, i missed that part. Never mind

Resident Evil 4 should be on that list and not Uncharted 2.

10 years from now, no one will care about Uncharted 2.

Game of the year?  Lots of good games were released in 2008, even just on the PS3 - LittleBigPlanet, Valkyria Chronicles, Metal Gear Solid 4 - I also just bought GTA IV, which I've yet to play. 

Don't get me wrong - I think it's a good game.  But the glitches really got to me.  The game glitched in the scene where you take the GOAT, which was a ominous way to start. Maybe the 360 version was more polished (I don't know), but the PS3 version needed extra QA.

The graphics were unimpressive.  Not near the level of many of the best games of this generation.

The story was just ok.  Have you played Fallout 1 and 2?  How would you compare the story of those games to 3?  Did 3 break a lot of new ground?

I know that a lot of the people who like Fallout 3, like it a lot, and that's fine. I just think it's a little overhyped.

I'll admit, I'm only half-way through it - so there might be other aspects that I'll appreciate later, and I'm sure somebody will jump all over that, but instead I'll ask this - what about it did scream GOTY for you?

As primarily a Wii gamer, playing it on the PC and having all this freedom to do whatever I wanted was amazing.

 

I didn't pay attention to any previews of the game and just picked it up one day and started playing. I didn't play any of the previous Fallout titles so maybe that's why I liked it more than someone who had played the other games in the franchise.

The thing I liked most about the game was the atmosphere it created. When I play, it feels like I'm in some post apocalyptic Washington D.C. and not playing a videogame.

This, and besides, its not about which game will be remembered, IGN just thinks U2 is better than RE4

I can see now why so many people have a problem with

1. These types of lists and

2. IGN.

Firstly. What the hell. Games which revolutionized their genres or best sellers not even appearing.
Halo 1????? Reinvented console FPS.

No Gears 1? Revolutionized TPS mechanics.

No WOW reinvented MMO's.

The games that are there are in no way representative of the best of the last 10 years. Cmon people 10 years?!

Half Life 2 wasnt amazing it was good. A technical demo of the gravity at the time. Not amazing. To many unecessary bits. KOTOR? Really. ME1 a much better gam than KOTOR.

Look at IGN's best of each year over the 2000-2009 period. Now this list if genuine should contain there number 1's from each year. But it doesnt.

Poor poor lists. Dreadful in many cases.

Horrible

No Metal Gear Solid games, no Final Fantasy (X) games (even Crisis Core deserves to be there), San Andreas was waaaaaay better then III.
