Forums - Sales - This is to all noobs that said xbox 360 end of year 12-14 million worldwide

Well it seems I was finally victimized by the double post bug

Around the Network

Actually, there's plenty of anti-360 negativity on these forums....It's been that way forever. Everyone pidgeonholes it into last place, never really caring about the system since it only caters for shooters, and such, ignoring the fact that it still has the best library for almost every genre of gaming.

To me, it does seem like there are so many anti-X360 people here. Neos, Soriku, Leo-J and others regularly come to the X360 forums, make a negative comment then leave, rather than post good, relevant, insightful information about the X360, and only come in to attack something they don't like.

Go look at the forum post counts, and see that probably 20% of the posts are some sort of anti-X360 rant, and figure it out :-p

You speak the truth. Not only that, the majority of those that deride the 360 for being a shooter only console were the first to jump for joy when both Haze and UT3 were announced for timed exclusives for the PS3. The PS3 contigent, in particular, are the first whine about Anti-Sony sentiment in the Sony forum yet they constantly do what they claim to despise in 360 topics.

And that's the problem.

Each console has it's share of idiots (such as the guy that posted this topic), but it *was* in response to the fact that many people have been very negative about the X360.

All you have to do is look at everyone's signature (before they update it, mind you), to see where many people stand. Lucas, Neos, and other predicted when the X360 hit 10m (back in March, but was then redacted for another month) that the X360 would only sell 2-3m more units. The Sony fans were clamoring for 10m units for the PS3 for the year, and Wii owners were everywhere on their numbers.

And it seems that when the US VGC numbers come out, the vast majority of people always post "OMG, Wii software is awexeoms!" totally ignoring that the X360 has outsold it every week this year, sans when Paper Mario came out. I'm not saying Wii fans should only talk about #1, but it seems that all they, and PS3 owners want to do is argue how bad the X360 is doing.

And don't get me started on more software sales and tier ratios. The second you bring that up, you get 4-5 Wii owners attacking you, saying how tier ratios don't matter, how Wii software is doing as well as X360 software, and attacking you when you ever bring up revenue of software (I didn't see Wii owners comment about the fact that EA has made 5x the money off of their X360 products as Wii).

So when you add all that up, you can see there is a definate bias. I'm not expecting there not to be, since Wii fans outnumber X360 fans about 5:1 (ever look at the "favorite system" polls?), but you can't ignore the fact it's there.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Also, you guys do know that when Ioi overtracks or undertracks a console he doesn't just change the number... but also changes the tracking formula so that it doesn't overtrack or undertrack further... right?

So any overtracking of the 360 previously has most likey been fixed any thoughts that it's still being overtracked is just wishfull thinking... which is sad... I mean why would you wish for a system to sell bad?

I get the feeling that many many people on this site have no clue how statistical tracking works.

360 will not hit 15 mil...

The ironic thing is, you don't need to bring up attach rates or revenue amounts to see clear as day that there is a ridiculous amount of 360 software being sold. I remember thinking after 2 or 3 big releases on the 360, oh these numbers are only high this week because it's launch week for *insert big selling game here*. Well, eventually I realized that it's launch week for *insert big selling game here* just about every other week for the 360.

Ent, and it's good that you understand that. Unfortunately, 80% of people on these forums chalk up good sales to the "oh it's just because of one game" mentality.

Games, for any system, come out all the time. A smaller title like Bleach on the Wii in the US, added with 30 other similar-selling games can make for big sales. Same for X360 and PS3. The question is how often that happens.

With the case of the X360, it's every week, or every other week, that a game comes out that does 100k it's first week. When you have consistant software-sellers, it adds up. That's why the X360 moved more software than it did last year, even before the Holiday rush came around (which will wind up probably moving about 60% more software than last year. That's a big number).

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

europe kinda sucks only sony fan boy in Europe in my school i am 1 in about 5 people who have a 360 that kinda wack right but i see 360 selling 15 million cus mass effect will struggle to push any more then 2 million units

it not who i am but what i do that defines me. you'll never walk alone you'll never walk alone walk on walk on.

I don't think anyone denies the 360 is the big Software mover.

Just some people think the Wii might catch up once it starts passing 360 in hardware by some bigger numbers (which will have to be a lot, since a lot of people just buy the Wii for the Newtype games/just don't use it as much.) Which should happen unless the Wii drops off.

Of course, that's a pointless arguement that isn't going to matter until the Wii starts selling more systems by a lot in the first place when comparing current attach rates and total software sold. Unless your a Wii fanboy who wants to feel better about the attach ratio being low.

Although I do think the Wii's attach ratio will reach respectable numbers later in life to where it will move comparable software numbers if not one where it moves more software.

The thing with the Wii is that since it's sometimes in short supply yet at a high mass market price, a lot of the mass market are buying it early, Mass Market people arn't likely to buy as many games as early adopter and "hardcores" who usually buy their systems first. That's why attach rates can sometimes drop, and the more popular systems usually have lower attach rates then ones with poorer sales. So, I expect the wii to have a slightly more agressive attach ratio as it goes on since a lot of the mass market will have already have purchased the product. There will be "less" working against it later on in life.

The one worrysome thing however is that the attach ratio is so low even though it has plenty of budget games out, some of which seem to be of quality. That's one of the reasons second year attach ratios can get a boost, the influx of cheaper games.

As for revnue. Revenue is a fairly pointless indicator in my opinion. Profit is what matters. Which is why when comparing 360 vs Wii or PS3 vs Wii it seems to make more sense to go with total numbers of software sold, since the Wii has much cheaper development costs.

As for PS3 fanboys.  They're having a hard enough time justifying software sales vs the Wii to pay attention to the king in the room.
