Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The Rumor About Sonic Appearing in Super Mario Galaxy 2 is False!

Um... those reasons don't make any sense.

1. Ok, I'll give you that one.
2. Teasing means they give you a little bit of information and make you beg for more.
3. Of course they'd be pulling the name from a Sonic game--that's kinda the point o.O
4. Ever played Sonic 1-3? He does plenty of swimming... or at least, he spends a fair amount of time underwater, so they could easily let him swim if they wanted to.

It's likely not going to happen, but you could have easily come up with better reasons.

Yes, he can spend time underwater, but it's as if he's "Steel Sonic" so to speak. Unlike Mario, he will sink and drown if there are no platforms for him to jump on.

I believe it's fake, but not for your dorky reasons

I agree with this post.

"Green Hill Galaxy would be a ripoff!!!!!!" or a very obvious homage. If the rumor wasn't false.

Green Hill Galaxy would be an awsome addition to the game, i like the idea of bringing Mario & Sonic together in more ways, they make a great team.

i just don't think it'll be a good idea to PUT sonic in the game as a playable character, just wouldn't feel right in a 3D mario platformer.

levels in 3D sonic games are like non-looping racetracks, whereas 3D mario levels are like areas surrounding a central spot occasionally moving from one area to another. that's why Sonic in SMG2 wouldn't work well

You think?

Look for Spyro to possible show up though and ruin Mario forever.

He swam in the Olympics.

He swam in the Olympics.

The only reason why he was able to "swim" in the Olympics was because he was wearing a lifejacket/special suit that allowed him to. He would normally sink and drown after a certain amount of time.

Hey, easy on Spyro, he had a nice run before getting bounced from dev to dev.

Do you actually think they will keep that consistent? There's no explanation why they're doing anything, it's just there for the gameplay's sake. And we're talking about Nintendo here, they always put gameplay first.

Anyways, it probably won't happen (although I think it would be awesome).

Yes, I do. If they don't keep it that way, that would be an error in the Sonic series of games. In other words, it wouldn't make any sense for Sonic being able to swim (without protection) in one game and not being able to swim in all of the other games.
