OK I am very surprised at this. I must admit Wii has died in Japan.

Gotta love the optimism. lol  Who knows, maybe colors and Mario can do something, that usually helps out!  Cheer up!

There's not much more Nintendo can do to save it. It's finished for real this time. This will be the Wii's last decent Holiday, barring a DQX 2011 Holidays release (which I doubt, I still expect 2012). There's nothing more Nintendo can do, Wii's userbase is a dead userbase.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Maybe a refresh / new design could save Wii in Japan.

And the thread title could be "Will the Wii be able to outsell the PS3 in Japan any week this end of year?"

Taiko Wii 3 is slated for a December 2nd release if I'm not mistaken. The Wii will get by the holidays but after that it will be a barren wasteland for software in Japan. I don't see Zelda or The Last Story in the new year doing much of anything to be honest, I'm not sure when Earth Seeker releases but that will probably bomb, and as you say Dragon Quest X is still far off.

God only knows what Nintendo are going to do about this.

How technical is your game?

Wii will keep ahead of the PS3 till the end of the year. I dont think that Move will be bigger than Mario Collection, even with new colors... And GT5... i still doubt that the game will be released this year.

Now,it look like you'v made a serious mistake isn't it?

Anyway i hope  it is the last time ps3 outsell the wii sales by the end of the year :D

Wait is this for this week? WTF.   How did the Kirby give the PS3 a boost?!  This is the most epic gen ever.

Just Yeahhhhhh!!! And...maybe japanese who want to buy a wii are all waiting for the red wii (or PS move) so the wii sales will all like this till 11.11 :D

SRSLY, i didnt expect that Kirby would give PS3 a boost!

Damn Previews!

The preview  is just a Preview,it's not even close to the truth : P

Iwata has already said "Wii could be in trouble after Christmas". Sadly for a all intents and purposes this is essentially confirmation that they don't have anything planned. A price cut will probably come next year but that probably won't be until Summer or Fall.

People seem to be really desperate around here lol. But we have to remember who was idiot enough to release two said "major games" that no one gives a crap and let the Wii momentum be destroyed (again!)

Above: still the best game of the year.

Earth Seeker's this holiday, but yeah I'm not expecting much (like 100k max, and even that's probably too generous).  The game probably would've done well had it come last holiday though, and followed up on the MH3 hype directly.

I think TLS will do marginally better than Xenoblade (say 200k-ish), Taiko 3 will probably decline from Taiko 2 similarly as it did from Taiko 1 (so say 300k-ish) and Zelda SS I'd peg somewhere around half a million.  DQX really is Wii's last hope, and probably it's only future million seller (unless by some miracle DKCR does it, which I doubt).

Do you think Nintendo might be still hiding price cut for November ?

Because i don't see any hope for them to reach their shipment targets otherwise.

Well i think they would have done the bundle pricecut. But no i dont see it coming till 2011, unless Nintendo feel pressureed :/

And yeah the wii is really dying, but not dead. Dont forget that the PS3 was in this position adn so was the PSP. I still think it can have some temporary boosts with DQX, MH, and other nintendo announcements. But i've said this a long time ago, PS3 adn wii will balance each other for the rest of this gen, and right now the PS3 is on the better side with a good momentum that wont die anytime soon. Thats for sure!

when GT5 releases PS3 will hold first place for about 2-3 weeks
