“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

This post needs to be docked for not only mentioning Boom Blox 3, but for being a full frontal assault on the English language.

I am so happy how things seem to have changed for Wii. In the last 6 months lots of wonderful games were announced and I am hoping this trend to continue. It's a good thing that the sceptism or pesimism you could read on some people about Wii future is becoming dimmer.

I'm dying to find out what Retro are working on.

The Wii has had 3 awesome years. It's just that some players were too snobby to see the wealth of greatness available.

Nintendo will force the 3rd parties to respect them one way or another & 2010 may be the last hold out year.

Nothing Sony or Microsoft do will change this. They can only jump onto the bandwagon. They can't drive it.

Adapt or die. The industry as you know it no longer exists. The Revolution is still in motion.

Looks like the Wii's best year yet. Even better then 2007/Early 2008. About time Wii owners got a new Zelda.

ALREADY happened. You think NSMBWii isn't one?

Fair point - I forgot about it since Galaxy and NSMBWii are such different experiences. Then, let's change it - We're getting a third mainline Mario on the same console for the first time ever."

Actually Mario 64, Sunshine and Galaxy are the spin-off series. The true mainline series for Mario is SMB 1,2,3, World then NSMB Wii.

Above: still the best game of the year.

That's your opinion. I consider mainline Mario to be Mario 1, Mario 2 (Both USA and The Lost Levels), Mario 3, Mario World, Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, New Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Galaxy, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Super Mario Galaxy 2.

Super Mario Land 1 & 2 might be eligible for my list, too, but I never played them much to be honest.

personally i'm looking at

NMH2
Red Steel 2
Monster Hunter Tri
Arc Rise Fantasia
Metroid Other M
Galaxy 2
New Zelda.

ans also
Last Story
XenoBlade
Last Story

if they come here in 2010

Like others, I'm not just looking forward to the games themselves, I'm looking forward to their market performance. It'll be heartening for third-parties if they do well.

"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. While his New York restaurant sold kobe beef for $100 and his Boston restaurant sold lobster for $50, his LA restaurant sold cheap hotdogs for $30. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."
