Or that most people realize their material is shoddy, low quality, and generally useless.
Who knows.

Except they're still one of the top 3 game sites and the people who hate them think they're biased, apparently against all 3 platforms... Not to mention the popularity of egm, gfw, 1up yours and 1up show.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!
By what I've seen Assassin's Creed get noted about it, I'd be wary of someone that called it Game of the Week.

If popularity meant everything then cow dung must be the best thing ever because 5 million flies can't be wrong.
All review sites are biased because all reviewers are biased. Everyone has likes and dislikes. If the reviewer has vastly different tastes than you do, the review will not coincide with your own experience. It will appear to be biased. Anyone claiming complete objectivity in a review is a liar.
There will always be bias however depending on how well a reviewer's taste coincides with yours, you may never notice it.

Actually, looks like one of the most overrated games of all time imo.
Mario galaxy should be the GOTY, is not even a contest.

Conveniantly ignore that it also got amazing reviews. Also Mario Galaxy is definitely not a shoe in, it has less reviews than bioshock and it's at 97 average review, Bio is at 96, also Mass Effect hasn't come out yet and COD 4 is at 95. Stiff competition for goty. |
Yes because i worked it out like that ckmlb. I have Halo 3, i played Halo 3, i was underwhelmed by Halo 3. The single player is good, its no advancement on Halo 2 or Halo. The reason it got good reviews is its insane multiplayer. The whole game feels like its been designed with multiplayer in mind and it feels like the single player suffers because of this.
But thats my opinion and probably many will disagree.Games i'm currently playing:

It has a chance to be the PS3's game of the year. Though from what i've heard I'd give that to COD4 (can't wait to play that.)
Overall, Mass Effect will be better in my mind, and Bioshock still have some pretty high reviews, and you never know when Halo is going to step it.
And Mario Galaxy is a Mario Game.
AC should be behind all of those. You'd think Ratchet and Clank too on the PS3, but nobody really seems to have bought it. Then again, nobody bought Okami either. I think it'd be an upset stunner if a Ratchet Game placed ahead of a Mario game though... so at best i think it'd be a contender for best PS3 game of the year.
PS3 likely won't have the overall game of the year because it's best game is likely multiplatform, and dwarfed by 360 exclusives.

In the Game Informer review it states. When you’re ready for a break from the story, a huge number of collectibles are scattered through the game – over 400 hard-to-find pick-ups and 60 secondary assassinations. |
Sweet. Fetch items. Honestly i'm sick of people hiding objects behind crates and stuff and calling that added content. It's just the laziest way to extend a game.

Seriously, of all of games listed on this here thread, I will add my top 5 candidates:
In no particular order:
1. Mass Effect
2. Bioshock
3. Halo 3
4. Super Mario Galaxy
5. The Orange Box
I am leaning toward either Mass Effect or SMG, simply because Orange Box is really just a repackage of Half-Life 2, Halo 3 was good, but not stellar and COD4 is sweet, but it's an FPS that doesn't do anything that the other CODs before it didn't do. Bioshock has the best chance - it's a fresh approach to the FPS genre, and shoot, even Mass Effect jacks some of Bioshock's bionic features ...
I do think Mass Effect is soooo dynamic and Mario is huge here in the states ... it will be close. Assassin's Creed looks good, but it can't dream of making it into this list ...
Mass Effect, Cod4 and mario galaxy get my vote.
