Forums - Microsoft Discussion - *I am looking into buying a 360 and need help!*

I need help with trying to buy the right 360 or not get one at all so please answer the following questions...

1. Does the 360 work for a long time/Does it break quickly?

2. Are the games fun/I only had a n64,Gamecube,Wii,Ps3 so will I enjoy the 360 games?

3. What is the Red Ring Of Death and does it happen offten/Can it be fixed?

*4*(Most important question to me) What is the difference between the Elite and Arcade/What are all the things the Elite can do that the Arcade can't?

Please help this is all new to me!

1. It doesn't break quickly anymore. And even if it breaks (RROD, E74) you have a 3 year warranty.
2. Of course. Why shouldn't they be fun ? Isn't that the the reason why we play ?
3. Hardware defect. Happens here and there with older 360 models (sometimes also with new models). Can be fixed (3 years warranty)
4. Elite has a bigger harddrive. Arcade has no harddrive, only a few MB internal memory

If you have and liked the PS3 you should like the 360 too...

I heard that the Arcade has very little memory and can only save about 2 games is this true?

I also heard that the Arcade can't play certain games that the Elite can so which ones?

Pleae be detailed!(I am sorry if I don't get it)

The arcade can play all disc based games, you just can't install them (which speeds up loading, and less noise from the DVD Drive) since there is no HD. Now if you want to DL games off of live, then you will need a HD.

You really are making yourself look foolish for asking such questions. Why did you ask that??

The internal storage of the Arcade is 512MB. Some of them is already blocked by the Dashboard, but AFAIK there's still about 300MB free which should be enough for 20+ games. It really depends on the game, because The Orange Box for example needs 40MB while other games need about 1MB.
Usually there are more games that require only 1-10MB of space.

The Arcade can play all games. There were 2 or 3 exception, because those games needed XBOX Live and that was not possible back then without a place to save the updates.
But this was solved by adding the internal memory.

Slimebeast: What do you mean? I just heard that The Red Ring Of Death was very bad and would kill the 360.

Barozi: Can the Arcade play Online?

the arcade can play online, u just need a hdd if u wana download games from xbl, movies, shows, put songs onto the hdd and also dlc for your excisting games u buy. i would say get the elite its worth the extra money having a 120hdd with the system, i also recommend getting a charge station and a hdmi cable as well. also if u wana play most online games with your friends u will need to get a xbl gold membership, it will cost u $50. u can get it cheaper if u get a xbl gold card from amazon. if u wana play a mmorpg, like final fantasy 11:online u dont need a gold xbl account, just need the standard sliver account that comes with every xbox 360 system. its a great system with a ton of awesome games already out and alot coming out this year.
