I like the grammatical errors and misplaced comas. Other then that, not sure about this article.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

What Microsoft did, was bad for the market, and it's also responsible for bad ports on the PlayStation 3 and even bad graphics on Wii, by making developers too lazy to make their own engines for their own specific purposes by using their talents. |
This is a double edged sword, because if every dev had to make their own engine then costs would be even higher than they are now. With that in mind what Microsoft did was good for the market, and is helping it stay afloat.

The last two paragraphs ripped the credibility of the article. Soon enough MS fans will come and torn the thread apart.
It is interesting, but the UE 3 is a good thing. It allows games to me made more cheaply, and it is certainly a decent engine, and EPIC have shown how it can be used for better things. However, most major studios use their own engine. Ubi Montreal have theirs, DICE have theirs, there are loads of different engines, and it is not just the UE 3 that is causing lazy devs. The problem of lazy devs is more on ports rather than the use of the UE 3
From the point of a Graphical Enthusiast the article is relatively right. The idea of a general purpose engine loses out on specific game capabilities. From the point of view from market health, more games, better games this article is mistaken. A generic engine suitable for a large set of games mean considerably reduces production costs. For each game the team uses with the same engine they use it better and faster.
Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.
This is by far the most stupid thing I have read......
Ubisoft has used the Unreal 3 and has made their own engines...What is he talking about?.....He could of said "unreal engine 3 let's developers have shorter Dev pipeline's"....Instead he said that Devs are not learning on the 360....
How is it Microsoft's fault the the Unreal engine does not run well on PS3?...Or that the PS3 ports were poor?
Yet it seemed fit for Sony to use it's 2005 E3 conference to hype how the Unreal 3 was going to make games look so good that you might not believe they were real time.....
"The Xbox just "ported" the whole PC culture to a black box and called it a console."
By far the most Ignorant of all he has written.....The Whole PC culture..No where near the sheer number and just in NA....
"The first Xbox 360 games were just overly pixel shaded ports of last gen games"
What is talking about in this one?
"What Microsoft did, was bad for the market, and it's also responsible for bad ports on the PlayStation 3 and even bad graphics on Wii"
This one has so much Fail it's almost a WIN..
"It's not just developers fault, costs have skyrocketted and a simple solution like this doesn't look too bad, but it's hurting the industry."
Again..It was Sony that Began Hyping the Unreal Engine 3 for this gen...Not Microsoft....
"When they accept this stagnated position, they leave room for the PlayStation 3 to catch up, and surpass, by the natural evolution that the previous mentioned "learning curve" brings."
So when Devs stop using the the Unreal Engine 3 for 360 the 360 games will blow the PS3 games out of the water? Since according to him the Xbox 360 has the superior Hardware...
This Is by Far the Most Fail I have seen this year.....I don't agree with any of this.....And Again I must point out SONY WAS THE ONE HYPING THE UNREAL ENGINE 3 NOT MICROSOFT!
A mediocre Sony fanblog, which wasn't very well thought out to begin with. Fact is, MS did NOT hurt the industry because they made their console easy to develop for, and PS3 multiplats do NOT look much better on the PS3, mostly because they are running on the same code. Sony did NOT help out the industry by making a console difficult to develop for, if anything, they hurt the early and ongoing library of the PS3. Just ask Valve.
I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.
NO NO, NO NO NO.
When in doubt blame Microsoft, eventually you'll be right.
I skimmed the article and once I saw the author blaming Microsoft for bad PS3 ports and for bad graphics on the Wii I immediately knew the rest of the article is complete garbage.
