About 10 years ago, i managed to borrow the ps1 from my little brother with 2 games: Wipeout and FF7
The only experience i had so far with consoles was Mariokart and Goldeneye, and some old Philips system in the early eighties (and forgetting my msx for crying out loud).
After popping in Wipeout, and getting bored after 15 minutes(sorry) i put in disc 1 of FF7, being absolutely clueless about what to expect.
Now, ten years later, it still is the best gaming experience i've had in my life. I've played lots of Jrpg's after FF7 but none comes close to the experience i had with my very first Jrpg. I totally got sucked into the game and it's story, loving every second of gameplay and wandered around much too long everywhere because i had never played a game like this before.
Now i'm not saying that FF7 is the best game ever, i guess i've even played better, but as my first Jrpg i will always remember those long evenings turning into nights and even sometimes mornings...
If you will, it was like popping your cherry, a moment you will never forget...
edit:
while i was looking for similar experiences, i now got the chance to see amongst the Chartz-members which FF is actually the most favorable... currently counting:
FF7- 12x
FF6 - 9x
FF8 - 7x
FF9 - 7x
FF4 - 7x
FFX - 5x
FFXII - 1x
FFX-2 - 1x
FFT - 1x
Now what conclusions can we draw from these numbers...
