Alright VGChartz, we can stop refreshing X/Twitter/Youtube now, Square Enix just dropped the release date for Final Fantasy VII Revelation during today's State of Play, and I'm not gonna lie, I pre-ordered the Collector's Edition before the trailer even finished buffering. No regrets. Sephiroth can have my wallet, he's earned it at this point.
For anyone who somehow missed it, here's what's confirmed:
- Release date: April 8, 2027
- Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC (Steam/Epic/Microsoft Store) first time this trilogy launches day and date everywhere, which honestly feels like a miracle
- The Highwind is fully controllable: open world, fly wherever, and yes, you can parachute out of it onto the map. Sephiroth's about to have a very bad year.
- Submarine: Oh yes, the Submarine combat is there.
- FITS system: swap gear that changes appearance AND grants abilities pulled from classic FF jobs, which sounds like they finally cracked how to make costumes matter mechanically instead of just cosmetically
- Story Expansion Pass: two DLCs post launch, one Sephiroth focused, one for Vincent & the Turks (Sephiroth finally gets his moment, we've waited three games for this)
- Editions: Day One, Deluxe, and a Collector's Edition with a statue, available direct from the Square Enix Store while supplies last, and I do mean last, these things move fast
This is the finale. The whole trilogy has been building to this since Remake dropped, and they're going bigger than either of the first two games, full open world, full party, full stakes. If Rebirth's ending didn't wreck you a little, I don't know what to tell you.
So let's hear it:
- Who's already pre ordered?
- Who's already planning to spend the whole game as Vincent the second he's playable?
See you on the Highwind!
