I was taken aback by this. I was going to buy my Switch 2 yesterday due to the price increase that will happen in September, but I had a problem and couldn't do it. Today it was revelead that the price increase in Latin America won't be as sharp as we expected. Here in Brazil, the price will go up by R$100, which corresponds today to only US$ 20. It's as if the Switch 2 here costed US$ 5110 instead of 5000 (or 4999, to be more precise). I think this is a policy extended to all Latin America, not only Brazil, so if we have more details about other Latin countries, I can change the title of the thread to include the Latin America as a whole

But damn I didn't realise how expensive SW2 was in Brazil. This new price is equivalent of $900?

Looking it up here are price increases in a few Latin American countries. 

Mexico $13,599 to $13,999 (~$816 USD)
Brazil R$4,499 to R$4,599 (~$905 USD)
Chile $629,990 to $659,990 (~$722 USD)

Meh, a price increase is still an increase. I'd rather the price goes down.

You're right, after the price increase, a Switch 2 will cost equivalent to US$ 901 here. Just so you know, Mario Kart World was launched here costing R$ 500 here, which corresponds to US$ 98. Nowadays, we the price of it went down and it costs "only" R$ 430, or US$ 84.30

We can see why they didn't raise the price as much here in Brazil. It seems it is the most expansive Switch 2 of all. A US citizen buy a Switch 2 fly over here, sell it, and go back to the US, buy another Switch 2 and still have a lot of money left (disconsiring flying tickets and other expenses of )

If my calcs are correct, if the US$ 50 conversion were applied to these countries, we would have this:

Mexico $13,599 to $15,110

Brazil R$ 4,999 to R$5,110

Chile $629,990 to 699,990

and the actual increase in these countries correspods to:

Mexico - an increase of US$23,32

Brazil - an increase of US$ 19,67 (I said US$ 20 before but I'm being more precise now)

Chile - an increase of US$ 32,82

Yeah, PS5 Pro price increse here was "just" R$ 500 while it was raised by $150 in the USA.

Seems like both companies didn't want to increase that much their most expensive product.

Meanwhile the regular PS5 increased by R$ 600 compared to the $100 in the USA, as that one sells a lot they were comfortable to raise it in line with the dolar ratio.

Why does it cost that much in latin America?

In Denmark right now its going for 3440 dkk (kr) which is like ~515 USD.
A few shops are doing specials to try and sell them.
