Forums - Nintendo - Describing Nintendo’s 2026 In One Word: Cozy.

And no, it’s not because their biggest two releases this year (so far) are cozy life sims. The word “cozy” comes to mind because it’s a year where there isn’t some major AAA blockbuster with news dropping 24/7, but instead, a steady stream of modest/niche games that really capture the idea of simply making games that are nothing more than dumb fun. I mean, just look at all the first party Nintendo releases from the past two months. I really love it, though I’ve heard others complaints and I can understand.

What about you? How would you describe Nintendo’s 2026 so far?

nintendo has so much damn money and all they gave us this year were remakes and a cozy sim game. the word id use for 2026 is fail.

Total Championships: Nintendo - 4, Sony - 2, Atari - 1, Microsoft - 0, Sega - 0

I'm quite enjoying Splatoon Raiders so far and the third party output this year is the best it's been since the SNES, so I've been kept quite entertained personally.

RE Requiem, Pragmata, Indiana Jones, Kena, FF7, Starship Trooper Ultimate Bug War, and others were good fun.

Not having any megaton blockbusters like Smash Bros or 3D Mario was certainly a bold choice, and I'm not entirely convinced it was necessarily the wisest one, but I can't really complain when I've been well stocked with quality titles all year long.

If I had to sum it up in one word i would say "conservative", but that's hardly a terrible outcome.

It sure beats the hell out of Switch 1's weak 2018.

I dont mind a bit of a slower year. I needed the time to work on my backlog anyway. I still buy a good amount of new games though. Games takes Nintendo a longer time to develop now, but with the great third party support on the Switch 2, its not aproblem for me at all. Not like it was during the WiiU. That was brutal at times.lol

Boring.

For me personally. Starfox is the only game I bought all year for it. However, I'm not upset by that. I wanted this year to be slower on new released as it's allowed me to get some older PS2 and 360 games.
