Forums - General - What’s a skill you’ve recently learned? Or a new habit you’ve started?

Kinda random lol but I felt like this could make for a good thread. I personally just learned how to ferment pickles! (That store-bought product is not the healthiest… often times overloaded with too much sodium.)

I’ve also begun implementing stretches and exercise during my morning routine— currently building up my calves b/c my university is big and it makes riding my bike a whole lot easier.

Forgiving others their trespasses in the moment and having patience and grace through troubled times. Both areas were difficult for me for most of my life but recently, something seemed to click and now I "get it". For the first time in my life, I'm suddenly not carrying any weight. I'm mostly sleeping through the night. I'm more considerate to the people around me, more caring, quicker to help etc. It's amazing, like finding out there was a treasure chest worth billions under your bed the entire time and you never knew it.

I kinda learned how to cook. Especially make more advanced dessert courses. This is my latest :

It’s a log-type glazed cake with maple butter cream. Turned out way better than I thought it would be. Maple is very common here in Quebec and we like its syrup to flavour our desserts.

Top is maple sugar flakes. So good!!

EDIT: Also @GuyDuke your post seems to have broken the thread, I think it might be the image not working.

That’s cool! I’ve always wanted to learn how to fish… maybe when I’m done with school. Or during the summer.

I'm on my second year now committing ~1-2 hours a day to learning Blender. The first year was learning most of the fundamentals. This second year was supposed to be about character modeling, rigging, and animation but with how dense and tedious the rigging course is turning out to be the animation course may have to wait for next year. O.o

Hoping to start making my own short films within the next couple years.

Yeah dunno what happened. Sorry :(

Anyway here it is :

I'm learning japanese since about a year for 30-60 minutes every day. I'm starting to get the hang of it. Sometimes I watch japanese TV and understand 4 sentences in a row. That's when I feel really satisfied. Still a long way to go though. =D

Kanji aren't that scary anymore. I actually started to like them. According to Anki, I have well memorized about 1,000 of them. Oh, and just recently I switched the language of my phone, my Switch 2 and my PS5 to japanese. I'm still hesitant to switch the language on my mac though ^^

Okay now the thread's working:
I recently learned to shave with an "analog" razor, after using an electric one since I was a teenager. Cut myself a lot while learning too!
Habit wise, swapped vegemite sandwiches for salad sandwiches for my lunch to get more veggies in my diet.
