Sam Lake by far.
Really enjoyed Alan Wake and Max Payne.

Kojima's games on the other hand I find unbearably pretentious and lame. The guy's writing is insanely bad.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

I don't believe I've played a Kojima game that I've enjoyed and certainly haven't beaten any. I'm currently playing through Alan Wake 2 on PS+ now and enjoying it. I've played through Alan Wake Remaster and Control on PS+ as well, and while I enjoyed them, I thought they were a little bit wonky control wise. Still a lot better than Kojima for me though.

For me, what usually makes me drop Kojima games is the gameplay. I thought Death Stranding had a very interesting story with amazing cinematics, but I just couldn't handle the gameplay. It's way too complex. And in the bad way.

Yeah I often find that a lot of his design choices in terms of gameplay (and pretty much everything else) are based on "wouldn't this be weird/transgressive" rather than "is this actually fun".

They both just seem to be so far up their own asses that its hard to tell them apart.

I've only played Control and the first Max Payne.

Whereas I've played the entire mainline MGS series and ZOE.

So I'll go with Kojima, but agree that the dude thinks too highly of himself.

I don't like Kojima as a person, especially after the David Hayter drama. But the majority of his projects were brilliant. Penguin Adventure is arguably my favorite NES gen game, Metal Gear was an amazing series even though it fell apart towards the end. Zone of the Enders 2 is a hell of a game too, but Kojima wasn't involved in its design.

MGS1 Intergral is my favorite game of all time. I mostly disliked MGS5 (amazing core gameplay, shit storytelling and level design). Death Stranding is so weird l didn't bother trying them. Dude's obsession with Hollywood and the west got more annoying over the years.

Played Max Payne and a bit of Alan Wake. Didn't enjoy the little that I played from them (brother beat Alan Wake), but I have nothing against Sam Lake.
