Forums - Sales Discussion - Spanish SW & HW Sales - Week 47, 2023 (Black Friday)

EA Sports FC 24 became the absolute protagonist of Black Friday on PS5, PS4, and Switch. On Xbox, its contribution to the total was minimal, with less than 1.500 units.

With this powerful boost, FC24 is already by far the best-selling game in Spain in 2023, surpassing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, although it is about to reach 300.000 units sold before the Christmas campaign.

Sales Week 47: November 20 - 26, 2023

I'm surprised Switch sold that much. Did it have some kinda bundle during black friday?

The OG Switch with Mario Kart 8 + 3 months of online bundle was introduced again on October 20th, Switch Lite bundles + Animal Crossing on the same day as well.

The only Bundle introduced for BF was the OLED + Mario Kart 8 and 3 months online for 349 euros.

Also:

BF 2022 Sales:

Nintendo Switch 37000 units

Xbox Series 9000 units

PS5 8500 units

BF Switch Sales

  • Nintendo Switch Black Friday 2023 - 30.000
  • Nintendo Switch Black Friday 2022 - 37.000
  • Nintendo Switch Black Friday 2021 - 35.000

Damn PS5 massive boost.

Suprisingly good yoy hold for Switch compared to the last couple of months. Also a decent week for Xbox all things considered

YoY changes for this week:

PS5 +464.7%
NS -18.9%
XS - Flat

Impressive PS5 sales, a 5.3:1 ratio to the Xbox.

Week 47 saw a 50% increase in sales compared to the second biggest week, which was the week prior with 32k.

So, in Spain, two weeks in November '23 are already drawing the biggest PS5 hardware sales weeks ever since its launch.

I am really excited for the global hardware sales estimates for the month of November.

I can imagine PS5's sales very likely to easily sit above 2 million units sold globally.

My guess is something between ~2.8 to 3.2m worldwide.

Sell through of 2 million globally for PS5 in November would be well below expectations, even 3.2 million would be slightly disappointing. Last years November was 2.4 million and it only shipped 7.1 million for Q3. With Sony aiming for 10 million or more units shipped for Q3 then 3.5 million for November would be needed.

You're right.

My numbers were at the lowest end of expectation. I forgot to add that.

I prefer keeping expectations lower, tbh.

In my highest guess, so if everything for the PS5 falls into place perfectly (no supply issues, Slim announcement in October triggering enough attention and buzz, etc.), I suspect global PS5 sales in November to be around ~4.6m to 5.2m.

But again - just me.

I've seen other people's suggestions of PS5 sales around 6.2 million units in November. Even that seems possible to me.

PS5 hitting 25 million units shipped in FY 2023 is not gonna happen at the prices they're asking. It'll need a permanent $100 pricecut to achieve that.

25 million for CY 2023 is more doable, but still very difficult.
