Currently, the only game Nintendo has announced for the rest of the year is Pikmin 3 Deluxe. However, that is no reason to believe that they will not announce any more games for release this year. Even recently, games like Paper Mario: The Origami King, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon DX, and Ring Fit Adventure were announced less than three months before their release on the Switch.

Here are My Thoughts on What the Three Games Can Be

  • Pikmin 3 Deluxe - 100% Confirmed for an October release
  • Bravely Default 2 - Was scheduled for a 2020 release, but that was a while ago
  • Super Mario 3D World DX - Has been rumored, and could easily be developed by the same team that brought over Captain Toad
  • 3D Mario Collection - Less Likely IMO, would involve renovating a bunch of very different games
  • New Pokemon Snap - Pokemon Projects are usually launched less than a year after their public debut
  • Bayonetta 3 - Unlikely, since Astral Chain (also from Platinum) was shown 6 months before its launch
  • Something Unexpected - Ring Fit Adventure came from nowhere, so why can't another game?

September 4th Update

  • September 18 - Super Mario 3D All-Stars
  • October 16 - Mario Kart Live
  • October 30 - Pikmin 3 Deluxe
  • February 12 - Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury

Unless we get something new announced, I think I was right.

September 8th Update

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is coming November 20th. I was apparently being pessimistic.

Hope they have at least one non re-release 1st party game this year. Pikmin 3 and Super Mario 3D world are both passes for me, I would buy the 3D Mario collection if that is true. A surprise new Donkey Kong Country 2D or 3D would work for me. Any of Star Fox, F Zero, Punch Out, Wave Race, Kid Icarus or a 2D Metroid would work for me as well but doubtful. I do hope we get an upgraded A Link Between Worlds in the next year or two as well.

Yes absolutley. It would be horrible if Pikmin 3 was all we had left this year.

I hope so. Jesus.

I voted 4 games. After Pikmin, I'm assuming that Mario Collection of some sort is coming, I'll guess one other port or remaster (a Zelda HD game or Metroid Prime Trilogy or some other GC or Wii game), and then one new game.

I'm gonna guess that we do have more, I'd expect an indie direct this month like every other year and possibly a full fat direct the end of this month of early September. They cannot keep the pipeline for our perspective, empty forever 🤷🏻‍♂️

Schedule is really empty, Nintendo wants to us to buy whatever thing they've already released and we weren't interested at first

No Nintendo, I won't buy Paper Mario just because there is no other game coming in the next 2 months

Most likely ports. If they port anything else this year it better be Xenoblade X. Really is looking like there will be a serious Switch drought of newly announced games until possible spring.

I don't see why you would expect a drought of games. We just don't know what games are coming. We didn't know about Paper Mario until two months (or less?) before it came out. We just found out about Pikmin. It is clear they just haven't announced their holiday lineup yet. It's not like they aren't going to have a single first party game coming out for the holidays!

Also we just had a Xenoblade game a few months ago, I'm sure there will be at least one more port for the holidays but Xenoblade is probably the last game it would be.

I'd expect after Pikmin to get the rumored Mario Collection, a popular GC/Wii/WiiU port, and one or two new games perhaps only at the AA level if Mario Collection is their planned main seller. Still, the right new AA game and the right port could each sell millions in the holiday season alone.

Didn't say it would happen. Said it should happen if anymore Wii U ports happen. ALso,Xenoblade X is very different than Xenoblade.
