Hi guys,

So I'm an AC noob but my son is asking for it for his birthday next month and I have some questions. I have two kids and one Switch and the three of us all would like to play it on our separate user accounts. I know about the whole one island per Switch thing and am wondering, if my son creates the island on his account, what my daughter and I can do on the island with our own accounts? I'm seeing a lot of negative reviews online saying that secondary accounts "can't do anything" but I imagine that's overstating the issue.

So what, specifically can and can't my daughter and I do? Can we visit the whole island? Can we buy things? Can we modify the island's appearance? I just want to be prepared so I can avoid any potential sibling clashes, lol.

I'd think a USB keyboard should work as well like it does for other games such as Warframe. I'm too lazy deal with friend codes and setting up meet times. Was hoping there would be an equivalent to New Leaf's Island where players join randomly.

Yea random is nice but it also has the best friend feature from New Leaf.  So it automatically sends a message to your best friends when you open the gates.  Along with ability to message them when on different islands.

I like that you can also send letters with a gift through mail to online friends now also.

How do you do this????

Switch Profile name: LoneDolphn
Friend Code: SW-1727-4115-6123
In game name: Dolphian
Town Name: Sea Leaf

I've got pears with peaches on the way if yal still tradin fruit.

Nice! I'll be on at 830 central time. Gotta go to work now though.

Two ways that I know of. You can actually send gifts from items purchased from the Nook ATM in the tent (after perhaps adding someone to best friends list) and you can go to postcards next to the dodo flight counter inside the airport to send an item that you have on your character.

I believe both ways you either have to be best friends or at least met them once in game by them coming to your island or you going to theirs.

I have no clue but I assume if you logged on separately that each person can do everything the main account can do such as buy things, visit other islands, have their own house, etc.  I believe limitations come when more than one people playing at once.  I can't say because I only have myself on my island but I'm sure someone in this thread knows more.  I'll look into in a couple hours if no one else responds to you.

Edit - just read article on polygon.  Seems like first person to join island is main account.  So that person can only advance the island in first few days.  This isn't that big of deal.  Seems more overblown than a game breaking issue.  So the main account has to donate 5 fish or insect to get Blathers to come to island.  Then the main account has to donate materials for the Nook's Cranny building.

Is it an issue?  Perhaps but seems like some people are overblowing it.  It shouldn't be that big of deal.  Basically just make sure whoever is main account that they are progressing the island as much as possible and active.

I'll add you to op tomorrow.  I'll be on before work tomorrow and a ton rest of week since they are closing all non essential businesses in my county starting Wednesday.  So looks like I'll be off work till early to mid April.

I believe I have all fruit planted and growing besides one which I'm guessing is bananas maybe because I have pear, peach, orange, cherries and coconuts growing so far.  My cherries might be done tomorrow so if that is case I'll bring them to you.

If you're not getting paid leave then damn that sucks. D:

Shak just hit me up with Oranges and Cherries so I just need Apples now, but thanks for wanting to help! I assumed Bananas and the other additional fruits from New Leaf were removed but I guess I don't know that for sure.

I need to get my hands on those two desk toys you have in your house.  Those were sick.

Cool I'll just send you them then as thanks for playing with me.

Nevermind I have all fruit. I swear I thought I was missing one.  Apparently they did get rid of all the other fruits.

I have PTO but I will just file for unemployment to cover so I don't have to use my time off.   They haven't declared stay at home yet but they are supposed to for non essential businesses.  I'll be fine for now since all my bills paid till end of next month.  I'm still employed not laid off. Id just be temporary not allowed to work.  I'll find out more once I go in for second shift today.  My girl's work got an exemption to allow stay open (Flex factory). I don't think my job will though.

It's pretty chill game if you never played it before.  This game has probably added most since series start.  New Leaf added a lot but New Horizons seems to be the "Ultimate" version of AC so far.  I'm sure they will keep adding to it.  Heck New Leaf got an amiibo update years after release adding 2 mini games and a campground area.  So I wouldn't be surprised if a lot more content was added for free (hopefully).

If you got nothing else in back catalog then it's worth a dive.  Worse comes to worse if don't like could trade it back in for something else.

I've probably put over 25 hours into game already.  There is no rush and sure you might be behind other people's town but people who are ahead usually help new or just starting out people.  So one could play the game 10+ hours a day or 15 mins.  It's mainly meant to be played 15 mins to hour a day but I usually fish and visit others people's island so I log a lot of hours.  It only lets you progress slowly first few days.  Ability to visit or have visitors is locked till 2nd day actually.

I am absolutely enjoy this game. That being said, I probably won't be particpating too much in this thread at the time being, since I really hate spoilers and just want to have a ton of one on one time with the game. It certainly has come out at a great time and I've been enjoying playing the game with my girlfriend with two tvs in the same room. Not a bad way to have to spend quarantine.

I hope all of you are well and enjoying the game and being safe. See you on the other side of all of this.

Don't want to spoil too much but have you seen those articles about a supposed clown from hell that is a new character in game?
