Also, after playing anthem for a while now, I have to say these review scores are bonkers. I generally agree with most review averages, but Anthem is a far better game then the reviews would have you believe. It certainly isn’t perfect, but it is in far better shape than destiny was when it first launched.

Either the demo left a lingering bad taste in their mouths (the demo was complete trash compared to the actual game) or their hatred of EA is leading to biased reviews.

Anthem is actually a really good game so far.

I agree with you.  Question though, did you play through the origin premier or just buy it on Friday?  A lot of the reviews were written based on the priemer access which didn't have the day 1 patch until late Wednesday night.  Certainly didn't do the game's reviews any favors.

Visceral also had that open-world Star Wars game in development, didn't stop EA from shutting them down.

Just sayin'.

Perhaps, I'm hoping Dragon age fans are a big enough voice, it's an established IP and Viscerals game was only known among enthusiasts and media. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they won't bank on anymore I'll will but it's EA So you maybe right. The best we can hope for is a dramatically reduced budget on the new Dragon age and perhaps a trimmed down team, It'll be q miracle if they can get out something good enough to save them but alas, perhaps they will be chopped before that.

Same though. Dragon Age is probably one of my favorite franchises... Actually prefer it over Ass Effect.
Even enjoyed Dragon Age 2 for what it was... And absolutely loved Origins and Inquisition.

After Andromeda though... Many had hoped that Anthem was going to be the game that redeemed them... But other than Inquisition, Bioware has had allot of "drama" with every title since Mass Effect 3.
I mean... As soon as I discovered Anthem was going to take the same road as Destiny... I lost a massive chunk of interest with it anyway.

If Anthem fails financially, then yes they're on their death bed

Playing it on the PS4, so just started playing it on Friday.  They probably should have let the game cook a little while longer, it obviously wasn’t quite ready.

As much shit as Inquisition gets, it was a good game and more importantly for bioware it was successful for EA along with the two before it even if they have given up on ME with Andromeda hopefully they haven't given up on DA.

Anthem... Oh lad, that was going to be a failure in any good are fans eyes no matter what. They would have done so much better with it had they focused on copying destiny instead of trying to bring single player RPG elements into it. Should have been honest and refined their loiter shooter.

As much as Andromeda gets roasted. It sold well over 3 million copies in the US alone. Despite that EA absorbed Bioware Montreal. I think BIoware is cooked. The backlash for Anthem is worse than Andromeda and it doesn't have the excuse of being made by Bioware's B Team. Edmonton is Bioware's best studio. I'm not sure how they survive this. Bioware's strength is single player titles and EA wants to do nothing but "live service" games at this point. Even if Anthem succeeded it, I was very doubtful that we'd get proper Dragon Age given EA's stance on sprawling single player experiences. By all account the Star Wars game that Viceral and Amy Hennig were working on was top notch and EA basically canned it because they can't monetize the crap out of single player games.

Do i care enough to be worried? Since the late 2000s they had nothing noteworthy and the next game (Dragon Age or whatever) will be the same mediocre and generic junk.

After 2010 it all kinda went downhill..... the best days of Bioware where actually right around 1999-2002.

For things to change for the worst after 2010, something must have happend maybe just a few years earlier on?
Goes to look into their history.

Oh look, "around 2008" they get bought up by EA.

EA killed them.

I swear its like EA makes a liveing out of buying company's, then MILKING their IPs, until the company cant sell those IP worth a damn anymore, and then they shut down the companys.

Why does anyone want to be bought up by them?
Its basically a death sentience.

I think it is too soon to call Anthem a flop. Every big game in the looter shooter space launched with problems that led to mediocre reviews. Some of them, such as Destiny (and Diablo, if you put it in the same category), kept improving, and turned themselves into huge sellers that people played for years. That's still a possibility for Anthem.

Admittedly, there are a couple differences here though. Anthem's review scores are really bad for a big AAA release. Much worse than we saw for Destiny at launch. And, possibly even more significant, is the publisher's reputation. EA may not be as patient as Activision was. After the way they dumped Andromeda (a game in a massive, well established series, with fewer problems than Anthem seems to have), it wouldn't surprise me to see them stop speaking the word Anthem here soon. That would be sad though, as history has shown us that these games can redeem themselves, given some time.
