Forums - Sony Discussion - VGBlogz: Meet VGC's newest Playstation fanboy! (and a wonderful Sony tech support story)

Bet you weren't suspecting me, huh?

My brother moved to China and quit his job a month beforehand, so the sexy knucklehead needed to get rid of some personal belongings for cash. I'd been thinking about making a PS3 my sidechick for the longest time and decided it was finally time to jump in.

I already bought the MGS Legacy Collection and Devil May Cry HD Collection, but I decided to peak in the deals section of the PS Store today, and my eyes lit up: FOUR TALES GAMES FOR $33! I couldn't afford NOT to take that offer! So I bought a PS Store card from Amazon, went to the PS Store from my PC and got all of the PS3 tales game en masse, thinking I'm slick like Rick. But lo and behold, when I tried to download my new games, I was met with a problem: I BOUGHT THE PS4 VERSION OF TALES OF ZESTIRIA, AND I DON' T HAVE A PS4! WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING!

So after giving myself the mental whippin's, I talked to a Sony agent in live text chat. Some of you all may remember my thread where I posted my experience with Nintendo's tech support from a couple of months ago, so I thought it would only be right if I posted about this experience too. Here is a transcript of it:

David (2/13/2017, 10:01:14 PM): Hello, My name is David how may I assist you today?
Me (2/13/2017, 10:02:05 PM): Hi David. I just purchased four games on sale in the PS Store. I meant to purchase four PS3 games, but I accidently purchased a PS4 game in the process.
Me (2/13/2017, 10:02:34 PM): The game is Tales of Zestiria. I meant to buy the PS3 version, but I got the PS4 version instead. Is there any way I can exchange it for a PS3 voucher?
David (2/13/2017, 10:02:58 PM): Hello [redacted], good evening,  I am really sorry to hear that you had this inconvenience with a game you purchased,
David (2/13/2017, 10:03:05 PM): Believe me  I know how important this is for you and I would be more than glad to assist you.
David (2/13/2017, 10:03:07 PM): Could you please provide me with your phone number in case we ever need to get in contact with you?
Me (2/13/2017, 10:03:29 PM): It is 918-[redacted]
David (2/13/2017, 10:04:26 PM): Thanks, Just to confirm, the account information you entered before you initiated the chat, is that the account you want to work on?
Me (2/13/2017, 10:04:39 PM): Yes sir.
David (2/13/2017, 10:05:32 PM): One moment please while I check your  account information .
David (2/13/2017, 10:07:10 PM): I was checking this for you and the game  Tales of Zestiria was indeed purchased  and  you got the PlayStation 4 version and unfortunately we are unable to provide a voucher code to get the PS3 and the license you currently own will only give you access to the PlayStation 4 game.
Me (2/13/2017, 10:07:53 PM): So there's no way to do any sort of exchange?
Me (2/13/2017, 10:08:35 PM): Or refund?
David (2/13/2017, 10:10:01 PM): Please allow me no more than 1 minute while i CHEKC THIS FOR YOU.
David (2/13/2017, 10:11:55 PM): Sorry for the Caps, keyboard issue,.
David (2/13/2017, 10:12:07 PM): I'm still researching this for you.  I appreciate your patience.
Me (2/13/2017, 10:12:13 PM): Thank you.
David (2/13/2017, 10:14:06 PM): You are welcome [redacted], I have great news for you.
David (2/13/2017, 10:14:34 PM): We will do a refund exception for the game purchased in PlayStation 4 when you wanted for PS3.
Let me explain you some details about the refund process.
Me (2/13/2017, 10:15:08 PM): Thank God! Please explain the process.
David (2/13/2017, 10:15:46 PM): According to the User Agreement all sales are final. Please keep in mind that it will done as onetime gesture of goodwill and funds will be returned to your PSN wallet. Is your Sign-In ID a valid email address?
Me (2/13/2017, 10:16:12 PM): Yes sir, it is.
David (2/13/2017, 10:17:54 PM): Your refund has been completed, you can now check your PSN wallet and the funds will be there for you to purchase any other content in the PSN Store. You will also receive an email confirmation for this. Here is your refund case number for future reference [redacted].
David (2/13/2017, 10:18:29 PM): Besides this, Is there anything else I can assist you with today?
Me (2/13/2017, 10:19:35 PM): No sir, that was all that was needed. Thank you so much for your assistance today. I was going to be really upset with myself for wasting money on a game I couldn't play.
David (2/13/2017, 10:19:43 PM): You are more than welcome [redacted]. and I was very happy finding a solution for you.
David (2/13/2017, 10:19:52 PM): Thanks for chatting today! Be on the lookout for an email with a link to a Satisfaction Survey. We value your opinion, and would appreciate if you took the time to reply. Have a great rest of your day!

So all's well that end's well folks. But you want to know something funny? My PS ID is "dontfitup"

don't

f

it

up

So now that I'm a proud PS3 owner, I'm looking to get into some game series I've been missing out on for too long, like Demon/Dark Souls. Would I be missing anything if I decide to skip straight to DS2, or should I start from the beginning? And what the hell is up with Kingdom Hearts? Where do I even begin with that shit?

Happy gaming, and if you made it down this far without skipping, thanks for reading!

I don't see Valkyria Chronicles in that stack.

I will correct this oversight next month after my allowance renews. Please understand.

Yea you can jump into ds2 directly (altho i still think original ds is the better game).

Kh is a bit tricky. The story can be confusing if you didnt play the ps2 games. Instead, i really suggest playing the just-released ps4 game, KH1.5+2.5. It contains all the story til the next kh game (2.8 & 3)

Just look at metacritic highest rated ps3 games list. Aside from cod and ac series, i recommend trying every single game that has 90+ rating

No access to a PS4 unfortunately, but I did see that KH 1.5 and 2.5 are available on PS3 as seperate SKUs. Would getting them together essentially give me the same thing, or does the PS4 version actually contain more content? That damn series is all over the place and just trying to read up on where to find everything makes me want to give up before I even start.

And yeah, I'm not an FPS or AssCreed fan (even though I got two AC games out of the deal), so I plan to make the PS3 my HD collection and RPG machine, while sprinkling in a few retro masterpieces like Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Parappa the Rapper.

Nvm, you should just get the 1.5 and 2.5

Just remembered that I actually have the GBA and DS game, and downloading the 3DS game shouldn't be a problem, so I'm golden. This series better be worth it, dammit.

There is a grace period from the psn store with any purchase you make I think... it's either 14 days or something similar when you can cancel it.

The only thing which is not covered by it (which I've encountered so far) is if you have psn+ active on an account which of course will automatically set up the auto renew feature to try to take a year subscription as soon as your current one runs out, but yeah if you have that happen to your account regardless of anything else they'll count the actual purchase of the psn time as having happened at the point where psn+ was activated and where the auto renewal was turned on, so if you buy 12 months today, you'll auto renew in 12 months time and your grace period for that sale will have ended 351 days previous.

It's really shite considering I now have 24 months of psn+ (got it as a Christmas gift 2 years running from someone, second one becomes useless thanks to auto renew nabbing cash from my wallet for it) but yeah like I said, regardless of anything else they will refuse to refund a psn+ renewal, even though actual purchases of psn+ are covered by that grace period, but like I said, for them the grace period begins when the auto renew is turned on. Really terrible considering that the people it effects imo are the more loyal fans who would have cash in psn wallet or a credit card tied to the service.

I mean I have since taken my payment method off it and I'm just going to be using up the last of the funds in my wallet online now because of that shit experience I had, have far less trust of the service.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Congrats. It's very cheap jumping in so late. Enjoy!
