Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony: PS4 to see an "Unprecedented Rush" of big games in 2016 and VR release

- in a recent Japanese interview with 4Gamer Yoshida Shuhei, President of Sony Worldwide Studios said the following about next years PS4 line up:

"2016 marks an unprecedented rush of big titles for PS4,"

"It's also the year of the long-awaited launch of PlayStation VR. It's the year PS4 users, and those who are on the fence on whether to buy it will absolutely think, 'It's good to have a PS4.' Please look forward to it."

- on VR games coming to PlayStation VR, Yoshida, who this year was revealed as the second most popular persona in VGChartz, said the following:

"It's a completely new medium and the best of VR games will come out of nowhere, just as games on mobile or other new platforms like Facebook emerged,"

"The most successful game companies on these new technology platforms were not established conventional game publishers, but small startups that spent many years focused on making games on this new tech. I expect the same will happen with VR. Hopefully, all of the game industry will develop on this new tech, but the most successful titles will be something that we never thought of in a new IP or a new game that's focused on great experiences using VR tech."

Are you looking forward to PS4's 2016 line up?

Do you think there is still space for Sony to announce new releases for 2016?

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

Alienation
Attack On Titan
Ratchet and Clank
Uncharted 4
No Man's Sky
Abzu
Gravity Rush 2
Hellblade
Horizon: Zero Dawn
Nier: Automata
Persona 5
The Last Gaurdian
The Tomorrow Children
What Remains Of Edith Finch

My wallet is gonna be light as a feather in 2016.

Slightly off topic but Reading this makes me think Nintendo is not launching nx next year. They would be crazy going up against all this from Sony.

Their hand is forced, they have to do it now.
But yeah... Im not expecting a miracle from nintendo, they have their fight cut out for them, because the PS4 & even the Xbox one, will be brining it.

I just hope the NX sells better than the Wii U did.

For that to happend I think Nintendo needs to go back to what made it great, in times past. Sadly I think it more likely we see a Wii 2.0, that also kinda flops.

About these two "big things", I can see a great year for PS4 games, but I suspect this whole wave of new VR devices, not just Sony's one, will sell decently, as so many companies now believe in it with actual usable products, not just R&D with limited experimental implementations, but it won't be the one to make VR mainstream. A Kinect-sized success for HW could already be a good beginning if SW support were significantly larger than what Kinect received. Needless to say that a PS Move-sized 1st party SW support by Sony and/or marketing and pricing as bad as PSV ones will mercilessly sink it.
