Forums - Gaming - Paper Mario U will be annouced in E3? A 2015 release is possible?

Almost anyone that makes fake Nintendo E3 leaks put Paper Mario in their list, and with a good reason, it makes a lot of sense.

- It sold very well every time: PM - N64 (1.38M), TTYD -Game Cube (2.25M), SPM - Wii (3.69), PSS - 3DS (2.14M)
- More than just the absolut sales, it managed to have good numbers in GC, despite the smaller userbase. It looks like a good option for the Wii U
- Three consecutive home consoles have had a Paper Mario game since its Nintendo 64 début
- It isn't an expensive title to make
- It's now been eight years since Super Paper Mario arrived on Wii, so we're due a new entry
- Both the original and TTYD came after 3/4 years (depending on the region), so about where we are with the Wii U
- We recently got Paper Mario on Virtual Console

That said, we do have some counter points

- Nintendo could leave it in the HH
- Intelligent Systems was pretty busy recently: Code Name: S.T.E.A.M was released in March, Strechmo in May, Fire Emblem IF needs to be ready in June for Japan and it is also working on Fire Emblem X SMT , wich also has a 2015 Japanese date so far. Another studio could take it though.

So, what do you say?

Can't see anyone but IS doing it though.

God, I'd love a new Paper Mario.

Please Nintendo, let me use the Ultra Shroom again!

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Yeah, I think Intelligent Systems is making one for Wii U, but I think it's 2016 material. For 2015 we already have Mario Maker and I'm sure they'll want to save it to help them have a solid 2016 line up (Paper Mario + Zelda + Whatever Retro is working on + Whatever NLGames is working on + SMT x Fire Emblem + unnanounced minor things).

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

I think we will get a new Paper mario, and maybe it won't be announced at this year's E3 conference, but the Wii U will definitely get the game eventually. I remember Nintendo tweeted something about Paper Mario for the Wii U but quickly deleted the tweet, so I think that kinda proves that they are working on something.

IMO that doesn't make much sense.

Zelda and PM in the same year is "only" going to hurt PM. Zelda is the bigger and more anticipated and teased at game.

PM and Mario Maker, can only be beneficial to PM cause Create your Own games like LBP and Spark can do well, but don't really pushing anything else out.

Maybe, Would fap if they announced it (As long as its not like SS)

Intelligent Systems is no stranger to working on multiple projects at once. In 2007, they released 5 projects (2 of them being Super Paper Mario and Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn) and that was when the company was notably smaller in terms of employees.

Needless to say, as the series has never missed a console and considering the last two games were made in conjunction with other developers, I think it's safe to say that one is in development and it's quite possible it could release this year. However, I think a simple reveal is far more likely.

So many Paper Mario threads... If we don't get one I'll be genuinely annoyed honestly

Intelligent Systems seems to be able to make like a half-dozen games at a time, so I wouldn't be concerned about that part. For instance Fire Emblem most likely has its own team (Awakening released in 2012, If in 2015, most likely 3 years in development), Pushmo most likely has its own team (releases in 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015). Sticker Star released in 2012, Game & Wario in 2013, Codename STEAM in 2015, I doubt the same team worked on those three.

Basically I give up trying to predict when these guys can be ready to release a game, it's like they just spawn a new game from nothing whenever they feel like it. They aren't even that big, only 130 people, pretty average size for a game studio. Their efficiency and versatility is mind boggling.
