While I believe people are more adaptable than you imply,  your general premise is correct. 

I have my favorite companies such as Nintendo,  In N Out, and Intel,  but it is always good to keep an open mind. 

Acceptance is the first step.

Better to recognize it then try to pretend.

People here really don't seem to get the difference between preference and bias.

I tend to PREFER Sony because they have more likely than not made the exact thing I want in the past. However I didn't buy a PS3 because it said Playstation, I bought it because it was clearly better than the competition.

However I have never owned a VAIO PC because they were always at least a little too expensive for what I wanted. I may have checked them out because I like Sony, but I was blinded by preferences.

Oh I'm definetly biased against Xbox. However, Bias isn't any stronger or more negative then preference, but it is more pervasive. My Bias against Xbox manifests in that I rarely give them the benefit of the doubt and aren't easily impressed by anything else they do. This is mainly because I loved my Xbox. I also see Mattrick as Resigning for Microsoft's Sins, and don't buy the Phil Conspiracy.

Preferences are more specific.
