Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Microsoft may be teasing a Halo 2 HD remake for the Xbox One ( RUMOR)

Tagged games:

We're coming up on the tenth anniversary of  Halo 2, leading many to speculate that a high-definition remake of the Xbox classic will be released later this year. Microsoft did something similar with halo: Combat Evolved for its tenth anniversary, so the precedent is certainly there.

Now, Xbox spokesman Larry "Major Nelson" Hyrb has posted a very mysterious message on Twitter, harkening back to the I love bees viral marketing campaign for Halo 2.

While Mr. Hyrb could just have an odd fascination with bees, it does seem quite coincidental that he is tweeting about them on the very same year of Halo 2's tenth anniversary.

Are you ready for an HD remake of Halo 2? Seeing as how Microsoft has basically closed the book on Xbox 360 at this point, there's a good chance we'll see it come to Xbox One—that is, if it is in fact real. The Big M has made it clear it's committed to giving gamers a whole lot of Halo content in the coming years, and  Halo 2 Anniversary sounds like a logical move.

Not a fan of Halo and I don't think halo2.0 and halo 5 would cum in the same year

Isn't Fable anniversary coming to Xbox 360 shortly?

Anyway, I have assumed that they would do this, but how will this work schedule wise with a brand new Halo supposed to come out later this year? Maybe this is a summer release to get people excited for a September Halo 5 release?

Getting Halo on Xbox One, any Halo, is definitely a good idea

Who the hell likes bees? They're so creepy. But yeah, Halo 2, I'm surprised they haven't remade it yet. There's a lot of people that would get an XBO just to play Halo 2 online again.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

I played the heck out of this game. Working 3rd shift at the time I would spend my nights off playing until the sun came up. A remake would be cool.

Maybe this Larry chap is secretly Gob in disguise:

I liked glitching through the walls and up the buildings in Halo 2 with friends.  I hope they just HD-port it up so you can still do that.

I would definitely buy this if it was released, I didn't get a chance to play Halo 2.

Maybe he's just really into Bees

Xbone... the new "N" word   Apparently I troll MS now | Evidence | Evidence

That'd be good but....

...that really sucks because I think it should've been on the Xbox360 as it would fit well with the rest of the Halo games on the 360. It just seems stupid to have Halo 1,...3,4 on 360 but Halo 2 on Xbone. I had actually hoped that during the final years of the 360 before the Xbone came out (and while MS wasn't releasing/supporting anything for their fellow 360 gamers) that maybe they would've surprised the fans and ended the 360 by releasing Halo 2 remake.

Given that proportional to user base Halo 2 is the most successful Halo game in the entire franchise it's probably not a bad move to do a Halo 2 anniversary edition.
