Forums - Nintendo - Analyst lowers WiiU shipment forecast to 4.3m

Nintendo has once again lowered its Wii U sales forecast. The company formerly expected to sell 6.8 million Wii U consoles by the end of its 2014 fiscal year. However, that figure has been lowered to 4.3 million, even though Super Mario 3D World – which was released toward the end of November – helped drive Wii U sales in December. On the other hand, Nintendo 3DS sales significantly improved in 2013 than in previous years.

Predictions for LT console sales:

PS4: 120M

XB1: 70M

WiiU: 14M

3DS: 60M

Vita: 13M

Yes.

When does their fiscal year end? Because it is already way above 4.3 million unless they want to please investors and undershoot it. Either that or Wii U is overtracked

I believe they expected to reach 9 million sold by end of March 2014. However I could be wrong

Erm... "gibbogame" is a twitter account for an analyst. It's the analyst that has lowered their forecast for Wii U sales, not Nintendo lowering their Wii U shipment forecast.

Not so sure on this news by the way. Links to nothing from Nintendo.

Their fiscal year ends March.
They've sold 2.4m according to our numbers since April 2013. No signs of undertracking. If that news is true, they must expect one hell of a Q1....

apparently it's fake anyway.

I believe that their forcast was to Year-to-date (which is around 3 million right now) not Life-to-date (which is around 5 milion units). Also, this lowering in forcasts has been done by David Gibbson who is an industry analyst and one who rates stocks; he is not affiliated with Nintendo, I expect that Nintendo will reduce their offecial targets at the end of January to between 3.8-4.1 (comapnies always aim a little higher on targets so as to avoid the wrath of shareholders for needless decreased value in stock due if by any chance they sell more than conservative targets).
