I did a significant overhaul this year, since i built my 2011 list almost purely off of gut instinct, and then based my 2012 list off my 2011 list with only one or two revisions (outside of the new games added). This year i have introduced a three-criteria scoring system: a score of 1-10 (on a .5 scale) under: first impression, replay value, and quality (a more "objective" measure of how fair or refined the gameplay was, for the most part, as well as rewards or punishments for good or poor graphics/sound/art etc). Each score is added together, and that determines the general order. For ties "gut instinct" goes back into play.

Some games have huge movements either up or down in the hierarchy. A few were eliminated, one from two years ago ended up restored (yeah, i did it already. Damned impatience).

Wow, that's some dedication you got!!

I wish I could participate but I have 2 problems:

I don't have much time to really make a serious top 50 that represents all my gaming history.

I doubt nobody even reads these lists or cares very much, I feel like I'm far too insignificant as a member for anyone to really care what my top 50 games are.

1. Remember that while you have until November 12th to create your preliminary list, you can always tinker around with it until December 31st. What I like to do is just go through every game I have and write it down if it even has a chance of making the top 50. Then with that list I go and start @ number 1 and work my way up from there. You'll be surprised at how much fun you're having going through and reliving all those great games!

2. Bwahahaha. *wipes tear from eye* Good one Slimebeast. ^_^

2.5. Oh, you're serious?! No way my good sir. Every member worth their salt here at gamrConnect knows that you're a great member here. I'm honestly really hoping that you participate because of your diverse tastes in consoles and games. I for one can't wait to see what games 2-50 are (as we already know what game will be number 1. )

You're a good motivator. Thank you for the kind words.

I am a list guy at heart. There's value in ranking games and reliving them as you say. I'm also a nostalgia guy. I always want history to be remembered, stuff from the past to be valuable and be kept in people's memory and minds. I'm gonna start putting down my all time top games on paper at least.

I'll admit that my caring about the whole list for each user is fairly limited (and by each user, i mean everyone who's not me, i'm not really picking and choosing there), but every contribution helps create a sitewide top 200 between all the contributions, which i find *incredibly* fascinating, so the more the merrier (and as Smeags said, you are certainly a poster of notice anyway. Veteran, regular poster, one-time Microsoft devotee. Different perspective)

The guessing games have been fun too, historically, and have caught my interest. I was going to skip doing hints this year, but since i've rebuilt my list and thus have a fair number of new games, it should be worthwhile.

Will all the single contributions be sampled into a main top 200 list?

That sounds like quite a good way to do it. I may just have to steal your scoring system
