The poor Vita. There aren't enough games for me to get one, but I desperately want one to continue the Ys series! My 3DS is just getting too many games though.

Estelle and Adol... best characters ever! XD

It's not a war if your opponent has no weapons. I don't think Nintendo cares about the Vita, honestly.

I think the 2DS is a Vita killer, honestly. They're releasing a $70 cheaper than the Vita 2DS on the same day as Pokemon XY, the newest editions to the most powerful handheld franchise and 2nd best selling gaming franchise of all time.

But I genuinely think that Nintendo only made the 2DS because they had time to spare, not because they needed to. Vita's not on their radar at all.

Nintendo tried to kill the Vita from the start. Getting Mon Hun, and cutting the price right with Vita launch killed it. Nintendo wants Sony out of this space.

Tbh I cant speak of MS but I know Sony has taken shots at Nintendo time and time again.
Karma isn't something that just goes away and Sony is just getting what they dished out for so long.

This. Anyway, Sony hasn't done much, it's time to wake up.

As you said, I think after the gamecube and now the WiiU, nintendo have seen how quickly their empire can fall. Seeing as it's the handheld division that's always kept them afloat during these times, I imagine they are doing everything in their power to ensure that the Vita fails enough for Sony to not bother making another.

Really though, mobile gaming is going to make handheld gaming smaller and smaller over the next few years. It's not going to disappear, but the days of a handheld selling 150 million units is looong gone.

Nintendo shouldn't be too hard on Sony. Keep them down, but also let them sell enough so that they are pleased. If Nintendo really goes all out, buying even more exclusive games or something, Sony might fire back. Sure, they are small in the handheld sector, but they are also the first ones that gave Nintendo real competition in that space with the PSP. Even the Vita sits at nearly 15 % market share. Sega, Bandai and all those other companies that tried to get into the handheld business would have dreamed of such a market share. And Sony is far from done, they can be nasty too, if they want to.

Sony came to the handheld business to stay. If Nintendo wants them out, they are in for one hell of a fight. And never ever underestimate the underdog. After all, the PS1 once also was the underdog. Everything can happen.

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

Why do people say this? not literally at you but 150mil days are over? Only DS did that! PS2 if you include consoles. Handheld selling 50mil is a great job in my book now adays with tablets/etc. 3DS is going to be huge, it'll sell no less than 60mil lifetime. 2DS might be a good counter attack here in the states to compete with tablets/etc. Not directly but to get back the handheld market. $130 handheld vs $300+ tablets! Also during holiday 2DS might drop to $99! Pretty damn good if you ask me, we have to wait and see if it can pull the job, if it cant i still see 3ds doing well :P

Sony Consoles = Great Sony handheld = Great, buttttttt to expensive. They shot themselves in the foot with pushing it as a controller imo. But we dont kno 2014 lineup so anyting can happen! Though lots of people speculate Vita might be the last handheld for Sony

War? Please, this was no war. Nintendo was methodical in their domination of the handheld market this gen. Sony was never even a combatant.
