Don't compare to Gran Turismo....

What does Forza Motorsport 5 need to do, for you to consider it a success (sales and/or quality wise)?

----

For me, I loved FM3, but I hated FM4. FM3 was designed so that every race was unique, you never raced with the same car on the same track twice (unless you lost the first time), and the money you made winning races was often enough to buy another car for a different cup. Plus the way the game was designed, it encouraged you to buy all sorts of cars, for all sorts of cups, American, German, Japanese, GT, RWD, AWD, 60's, Ford, BMW, etc.

FM4 ruined Forza because they took this away. You no longer drove stock cars in FM4, and discounts were free. You always drove cars which were modified to the Performance Index and I felt that was stupid. I didn't buy the game to race a modified 458 Italia against a similarly modified McLaren. I want to drive the stock cars, and if I choose to modify a car, it should only be to make a car competeable.

So for me FM5 needs to fix this stupid Performance Index based racing for me to consider it a good game.

Plus maybe in car rear view would be nice too.

What about for you?

I have Forza 2 and 4, and for me the two biggest changes / improvements I want for the series are 1) a much bigger variety of race and gameplay options that you can tweak to your liking, and 2) a more structured and varied career mode rather than the uber-repetitive one featured in Forza 4. Would be nice to have actual tournaments with points awarded according to place as well.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

A good career mode that I don't get everything for free.

- Night time driving
- Randomized weather depending on the geographical location (just don't make it too excessive. For instance, snow shouldn't happen very often at all plus the occasional, extremely rare natural disaster such as a tornado or any extreme weather)
- Rally included right from the get go and not in an expansion
- 500-600 fully modeled cars
- MUCH BETTER A.I.!
- up to 32 car races both in single player and online
- Endurance races like F1 and F2 had.
- A more interesting, engaging career mode.
- MUCH better damage modeling.

- More tracks, a LOT more tracks.

Weather/Day-Night cycles
better damage models

and a better carreer mode, though I haven't played a sim racer that has a truly engaging carreer mode.

So features PGR 4 had right? You could get black ice in PGR4, but it was uncommon, and only used in a couple races. However the game did have snow, sleet, rain, ice, and.... well a lot.

I agree about other car types, it would be nice to see an F2000 or an F1 car, something open wheel.

I wasn't aware that PGR4 had black ice. But yeah, the game did have a lot of weather. I hope the next forza has some, but not anywhere close to that amount.

The most prominent addition to PGR4 is advanced weather effects that affect the look of the game and the physics of the cars on the track. The weather can change from sun to rain to snow to hail within a single race. A system logged on to Xbox Live will download weather data from The Weather Channel, allowing users to set in-game conditions to mirror current weather in their respective cities.

The game simulates ten types of weather, including clear days, clouds, light to stormy rain, fog, snow and even ice. In user-created races, weather is fully customisable along with all the other race variations. In the game's expanded and improved career mode, weather is predetermined, which adds an extra obstacle for players to overcome.[9]

I didn't know that I could have the actual weather I'm experiencing play in game, but yea, weather is best portrayed in PGR4. Ice is only done in patches, I remember playing a race and then suddenly I started to spin on a long straight. 100m later, I regained traction. It's an awesome feature.

Wow that's impressive. Didn't know that the game had current weather.

I hope Forza 5 has that.
