Nintendo of America has listed the long-awaited Smash Bros game for the Nintendo 3DS as coming soon. Super Smash Bros 3DS was listed alongside games such as Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Pokemon X and Pokemon Y as coming soon to the platform. The games that were listed have all been previously confirmed for this year, minus Super Smash Bros 3DS. Do you think we may see Super Smash Bros 3DS released this year?

Probably just a mistake, but what a bomb that would be at this years E3 if it came out this year!

I'm really, REALLY looking forward to this game. I'm hoping for some kind of demo released on the E-shop right after nintendo's E3 conference.

Unlikely IMO. Even if Sakurai began a few weeks before Kid Icarus: Uprising came out, that would leave less than two years to make the game. Brawl took 2 and a half years, and that wasn't even on an HD system like SSB4 will be.

but Salnax they did hire in some help from Bamco

First the PS4, then BF4 and now a possibility for Smash Bros to release this year or soon.

This truly is a good year for gamers.

Well they altered their development plans for the game in order to get it done as soon as possible. It's sort of like what they did with Mario Kart 7. They needed it by December 2011 and they couldn't do it alone, so they asked Retro to make 50% of the tracks for them.

It's why Sora Ltd closed and Sakurai went over to Namco Bandai to make the game with that staff. If they were to do it internally like they did with Brawl, it would take three years or longer. By doing it with Namco Bandai, there's already an experienced team in place with knowledge of HD software development.

But even so, I'd say it's more likely to be released in 2014 than this year. Nintendo doesn't need Brawl done this year if 3D Mario and Mario Kart are coming out in Nov/ Dec. Those two games will be enough to spike sales for the time being.

The last game was built by a special team. This one is being build by Namco. It could have a larger team, more resources and be done quicker. I don't expect it until 2014, but maybe the 3DS version will be done early and release this fall?

well we all know that soon with Nintendo can be in a year or more :P, remember TP? yeah the game will be delayed
