Forums - PC Discussion - Dead Space 3 for PC will be little more than a console port

Tagged games:

The micro-transactions are really quite annoying, depending how intrusive they are. (If they let you turn it off it's less so, because it essentially is a cheat code you have to pay for). I don't mind everything but that.

Especially the ability to equip Shepards armor for free. That's fan service since it's free, and I found it funny dressing shephard in dragon age armor, and DA in mass effect armor after initial playthrough. I mean in skyrim, and a lot of games you have people modding in characters from other games.

These games let you force AA through nvidia nspector, or injector, and AF which make it look pretty damn good, except for textures.

So let's see...

- Micro-transactions
- Multiplayer focus
- Crappy port
- Lots of dude language
- Published by EA

What are the chances of this being any good?

the demo seems pretty fun w/o multiplayer.

I have a saying for PC/console ports... 3D vision and crossfire/Nvidia surround support out of the box or GTFO!

Not trying to sound like a whiny, spoiled child, but I think a little more effort could have been put in here. No, it doesn't need all the bells and whistles of something like Battlefield 3, but at least a few more options besides your standard ones (like v-sync).

I do agree, particularly at the 59.99 price point, and the fact they've completely neglected the PC with all the previous dlc and demo. if I didn't love this series so much, i'd for certain wait for it to drop in price, like I did with some other of their games.

But it probably includes vsync, the old ones actually has options to make it worse than console ports like turning off lighting,  shadows, and post processing (maybe that's good i'm not sure what's included in Dead Space's post processing, some games add all kinds of useless crap to it).

I could be wrong, and they completely gimped this one. But I doubt it since it uses the same engine, and the first 2 had the exact same options. Have you played the other dead space ports?

The other dead spaces actually had vsync, but was broken or ineptly made because it locked games at 30 FPS and causes severe input lag, you had to turn it off the menu in the menu and force it in nvidia control panel, and use vsync it to 60FPS or (for you 120 FPS), and force MSAA which broke, shadows above normal quality. I use SMAA with sweetfx injector.

Yeah, I own both Dead Space ports (playing them now, in preparation). But, I think you misunderstood what I meant - I want more than just your standard options, meaning more than just v-sync and such.

yeah I did. :P. I agree/wish just put in the it's not the worst port ever category like Binary Domain, RE4, MGS2.

Other companies even Japanese companies like SE, Capcom, have been adding things like minor tesselation etc, textures. So EA/Visceral despite using unreal which is more easily scalable are behind the ball.

Well if they failed delivering something good even in the demo that would be quite bad wouldn't it?

Still I hope the developers learned something from feedback and their previous successes and don't allow the EA execs to turn this into a complete mess.

every new bit of news makes me want this game less and less. I doubt i'll buy it even on sale. A game like this does not need micro transactions. Stupid, and it ruins the feel of survival horror.

ok then i will buy it only below 10 dollars for pc.

(From my PC gaming point of view) This is why I have such respect for DICE and such little respect for the rest of EA.
