Forums - Sales Discussion - Wii is now least for million sellers

Tagged games:

Now FFXIII-2 is a million seller on PS3, I had a quick look on game DB and found out it was actually the 133th million seller on PS3, while Wii has only 131.

We are in a most curious situation : the best-selling system has the lowest amount of million sellers (and 500K sellers), but it's the only one to have 20 million sellers. What does it mean? High concentration on some titles, so an audience much less varied than the the HD competition. Also, PS3&360 million sellers have many more high quality titles than Wii's.

The question is the following : with so many people playing the same games, can Wii still be called the leader of the generation?

I've said this before and I'll say it again, Wii may have won the console sales war, but in the software department it is severely lacking compared to the HD Twins (IMO). I'm glad I now have sales data to back this up.

Actually total software is still significantly greater I believe for the wii, it is the number of million sellers that Wii lack.

Which system has sold the most software total out of the big three of this generation? Is it still the Wii? Which system has sold the most hardware this generation? Is it still the Wii?
I would base your findings on the amount of shovelware gamers had to dig through this gen on the Wii. Luckily Nintendo is working to make that not happen this time around.

+1

Xbox360 is more diverse in audience, Microsoft secured the hardcore and then tried to get some on Nintendo's new audience, successfully, with Kinect, and that gave it a well deserved 2nd place

Ps3 is mainly hardcore and Wii is mainly casual

Wii has sold the most, about 30m above the other two, and has the biggest sellers of the generation which took it to 95m, which are all exclusives, no need to name them, so the Wii the leader and it cannot change

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

Hardcore games don't sell on Wii.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

This is really a discussion about nothing. We all already knew that the Wii-userbase mainly bought first-party titles while the more capable consoles got the best third-party support.

No, Wii can't be called the leader since so many people play the same games. *near-lethal facepalm*

lol why wouldn't be the Wii be the leader of this gen anymore ?
What you mentioned is hardly a reason

this is one of those lol moments.

How many of those "PS3 million sellers" has sold more than 30 million units?
