Advertisements=/=Marketing

Clearly the one who putted the most ressources into it. But, im not aware enough of their campaign to give a judgment on quality.

I don't think Microsoft is the king, I don't remember brilliant ideas other than Kinect, the real reason under the increasing sales of 360.

Nintendo are far better at this. They appeal to a wider variety of consumer.

Above Nintendo, Apple.

Yeah I'd say so. As much as the Nintendo ads make me cringe, they do what they're supposed to, make the Wii appeal to under 12s and over 60s. SONYs ads in the UK are much better than what the US gets, but it's still nothing special. Kevin Butler works well as an internet icon and maybe advertising the actual console, but it doesn't work when he's promoting a single game (Think Resistance 3 ad). I actually liked the first few adverts for the PS3, only because they are interesting, not because it sells the console, which it didn't.

Xbox 360 has by far the best advertisements.

I'd say Microsoft has been rather hit-and-miss. I remember an ad with a concert exploding out of the back of a girl's head, or something, quite unpleasant, though they indeed have had some solid campaigns

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

What do you mean? Advertisements are definitely a big part of marketing

They're a part, but they aren't marketing. Marketing involves a lot more than commercials.

They're cheesy and professional, which seems to work perfectly. They're much better than the Playstation adverts, Nintendo's are good for the audience they are aimed at, but they can be a little bit too "fake" at times though.

Sure, but was the above equation made anywhere in the article?

My point is that you can't judge the marketing of the company by just looking at their commercials. If we're just looking at commercials, each company had their ups and lows. Nintendo had some brilliant ads IMHO. Maybe they didn't have any flashiness or were memorable, but they did a great job targeting their key audience (parents, older people, young children) and demonstrating the benefits of the Wii, so much so that Microsoft is copying the same style for their Kinect ads IMHO.

Sony had some shitty ads in the beginning, and had some great ads with Kevin Butler.

But here's a question. What about price? Sony suffered critically on that. What about the target audience? Did Nintendo shoot themselves by neglecting their core audience? What about products? What games are Microsoft brining out this year?

Commercials are just one slice of marketing, and a not a huge one either. There's so much more that goes into marketing, and this article just seemed amateurish.

Yeah I'd say so, I prefer the more action packed advertisement commercials that MS releases over anything else really.

I'd say the scale that they do it on is also much better than the competition was in previous years. *Halo 3 @ SuperBowl == erection*
