I used to enjoy games like Myst and the King's Quest series on the PC.  So do you guys think Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars is up my alley?  I've read reviews, and I'm favoring towards it for around $20.  But I keep asking myself if my funds are better spent on other games first.  Any opinions out there?

i just bought a 3 Broken sword games Bundle on steam for 2,50 Euros

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

- George Orwell, ‘1984’

Well the game is great if you like classic point and click games. But considering the game is old you can get it for far less than 20 bucks.
Altough this version of the game has updated graphics and there are little changes in the history.

If you want my opinion, yes you should buy this (but consider that I am a fan of this Broken Sword)

Which version or what system would you want it to be on though?

Good point there.  I love my Wii and my 55" tv.  And my computer is an iMac so a PC version is a no go unless I install Windows via Boot Camp.  So Wii version is more probable.

Amazon.com sells it for a good price (The wii version), better than you expected: http://www.amazon.com/Broken-Sword-Shadow-Templars-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B001HTDSSO

Edit: For some reason the DS version costs more lol

Thanks.  I actually have the game on my Amazon Wish List.  Just to let you know, my $20 limit also includes shipping so your link is certainly a possibility.  I had forgotten there was a DS version.

it's like 6 euro's in de Mac App store.... the one for Mac programs not the iphone one..

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

I just did a little more research. I didn't know the series was on so many platforms. I would still probably go with the Wii version since the first one is on it while I'll enjoy playing it on my TV.

If you're an adventure fan, Broken Sword is definitely up your alley.

This doesn't necessarily mean you'll like the game but you played and liked King's Quest games which means you at least know how classic point & click adventure games work, look and feel.

Scroll down to #4 of this list http://www.adventuregamers.com/article/id,1401/p,22, which was just recently released by one of the largest adventure gaming websites, and you know about the reputation of this game among adventure game fans. Here's what these guys wrote about the game http://www.adventuregamers.com/article/id,1401/p,21.

(BTW: The whole 22 pages long feature about the Top 100 all-time adventure games which starts on http://www.adventuregamers.com/article/id,1401/p,1 is a highly recommendable read as well, even though I won't forgive these guys the omission of Westwood's The Legend of Kyrandia: Hand of Fate and Dynamix' Heart of China >_>).

Some consider Broken Sword 1 (Shadow of the Templars) the very best adventure game they ever played, e.g. at least two VGChartz members as far as I remember.

While I don't agree with these people (5 LucasArts adventures will probably - and unfortunately - forever make my graphic adventure top 5), Broken Sword 1 is in my personal top 10 and Broken Sword 2 in my top 15.

I think no other graphic adventure game other than Myst was released on so many platforms as Broken Sword 1.

You already decided to play it on Wii, but I still recommend to consider playing it on iMac. It's cheaper, you can instantly download and play and the controls are better. Don't get me wrong, the Wii version is good but in my opinion currently DS/3DS and Tablet PC's are the only systems that can compete with PC/Mac when it comes to controlling point & click adventure games.

The best recommendation overall imo would be http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/broken_sword_directors_cut, as this is the only download version which contains the (better) original version of the game as a bonus, but I'm aware a PC version doesn't make sense in your case.

Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars is available for Mac on http://store.steampowered.com/app/57640

Broken Sword: The Smoking Mirror (the very good successor) on http://store.steampowered.com/app/33600/

Keep in mind: This game was originally released in 1996 (shouldn't be a problem for you, you played Sierra adventure games ), and the pacing is slow - yes, even for a point & click adventure game.

It isn t a bad game... and it is actually quite interesting... i will buy it for £19.99 or $25 no more....

you can tell it is an old game.

Switch!!!

You don't need bootcamp to play the game. Download a program called ScummVM, which allows you to play 2d point-and-click adventures on your mac, even ones that are only on Windows like Monkey Island 3 and Broken Sword. Then you can get it for PC dirty cheap.

If I were you, I would download ScummVM, get the game via P2P just to try it out, and if you are satisfied with the result (you should be), then buy it.
