Forums - Website Topics - Automatically lock threads?

The temptation to "necro bump" is too great, sometimes.  I mean hot chicks die, too.  What's wrong with having sex with them while they're still warm?  Also, resurecting old threads is a weakness of mine.  Who's to say when a thread is dead?  You?  Me?  Rev. Jessie Jackson?  Sometimes an old topic goes on for years (ie: the post your mind thread).  Sometimes a new topic dies too soon (ie: the Twitter 2.0 thread).  If someone brings a thread that died five months ago, is that wrong?

I say that any threads that are more than a year old should be locked automatically (if nobody posts in them for more than six months).  Any thread that somebody wants to bring back should be approved by a mod, first.  Who's with me?

I think a thread is dead when no one response to it. I saved this one from being locked you can thank me later citizen.

Anyone who's breaking the law is obvious a criminal.

I never got what the big deal is about necro-posts. As long as they're on-topic I don't see any problem.

if a thread is still relevant and comes back up, people will chat in it....if it isnt, then it will get locked or ignored...why add all the red tape.

"I like my steaks how i like my women.  Bloody and all over my face"

"Its like sex, but with a winner!"

A good thread is a good thread otherwise it would not be bumbed. After all we're all here to entertain ourselves and the age of a thread should should be an issue.

Old threads can be a lot of fun and it would be trouble to PM a mod first :s..

This.

Thx to you I am starting to bump up some old threads =p..

Some are very hard to find sadly, Google is still better if you want to search an specific old thread.

@Lostplanet22, bringing back old threads is against the rules. I just have a weakness for doing it. Yeah, I agree with you that we're here to entertain ourselves and I see nothing wrong with reviving the past. But rather than risk getting in trouble (usually, a mod will just lock the offending thread), I say put some sort of automated measure in place. That way, nobody commits the crime. Otherwise, I'm going to necro-bump the "Crash Team Racing is Better Than Mario Kart 64" thread and nobody wants that.....except me. I want that.

Then you should make a nostalgia thread where you can post amazing links to amazing threads and even discuss it in that 'Nostalgia' thread...

And I remember the CTR VS MK 64 thread :).  'but CTR has a higher metacritic'  GT is the best racing game.... 'No MK wii is that is why it is pwning in sales';...

The threads are boring and I don't see the problem in creating a 'nostaligia thread'  I would make one but I am so lazy especially if i have to update it =p..
