Eh, things always looked fucked. But while we certainly have setbacks, humanity overall improves generally. I am cautiously optimistic about the future.
To illustrate that: Thomas Robert Malthus was an english economist who lived from 1766 to 1834. He observed that the global human population had entered an exponential growth. Based on that he predicted resources (he focused on food) would become a limit as it grows only linear and he thought humanity would be fucked. But it didn't happen. We didn't all starve. The exponential growth of human population was correct - but resources didn't grow linear, with technological progress exploding alongside population growth it also grew exponentially.
That is the thing. We solved many problems. Nowadays we face the problem of climate change, but people forget we had similar global crises with the depletion of the ozone layer and acid rain, both the result of human activity. We solved it by regulations on companies.
We face big problems, but if our technological progress keeps up we can solve them. There is a risk though. Technological progress is not only tied to population alone (more people have more ideas). It also needs generally good education and global knowledge exchange. If those are breaking up we might face trouble.
