No. We could see a crash for consoles and some software that is much bigger than the North American Gaming Crash of 1983. In terms of its impact on the whole world that is. The Crash of 1983 was almost exclusively a net negative for the time for North America, not Japan, Europe, and others.
$900 and up for consoles is untenable. Shoot, I would say $700 and up for PS6 is untenable especially if it's out by 2028-2029.
Depending on how severe price hikes get, Switch 2 might not even hit 100 million units. But we'll have to wait and see.
Console gaming is on the brink for the first time in over 40 years.

Yeah that's a good point. Switch 2 is already struggling to put up big sales most months after the record breaking launch a year ago fizzled out. With the price raises the one place that was keeping them afloat has joined the mediocre sales of the rest of the world. And once the new prices hit around the rest of the world the sales everywhere else are gonna go from mediocre to poor. At this point I very much would not be surprised if the Switch 2 doesn't hit 100M despite having 20M sold after just 12 months. And PS5 may very well only top out at 110M.

Next year is gonna be very bleak for console sales. Xbox sales are gonna be

I don't think it'll be a "crash" necessarily, as in it's not like people are gonna be saying video games are dead (like i suppose they sorta were for a couple years in the US in the 80's). But the industry is definitely heading back to a market more like the size of things way back in the 90s, giving up on all the growth the past quarter century. Given that this will inevitably cause even more mass layoffs in the industry I guess it could be called a crash in the sense that the industry is gonna settle at a much smaller size for new products. But honestly everyone else will probably just be playing their old systems. I'll still be playing my 2017 Switch into the 2030's.

Truly anything can happen. Xbox Series X/S had a pretty strong start, fell a lot, and then fell massively. Wii had an absolutely massive 3 plus years coming off of GameCube but by the end it couldn't even outsell PS1 (it came close).

Switch 2 still has a good shot to outsell Wii and PS1, but it's looking like an uphill battle now for it to beat PS4 and GB+GBC. Not pie in the sky, but tough.
