If it runs well on the Series S and all they care is playing GTA VI, it's a good thing they have this cheaper option. I think this kind of game that pushes hardware a lot will end up getting people to look for the PS5 or XSX instead, every social media will be flooded with so much talk about how good it looks and how technically impressive it is, I'm pretty sure FOMO will hit a lot of people but I expect it to be mostly FOMO for the "best" experience too. IMO this game had a great potential to explode the PS5 Pro sales but it took so long to release and now the PS5 Pro is nearly $1000... |
Well that's the problem. While everyone would prefer the best of everything, the majority cannot afford the very best most of the time. When it comes to consoles and late gen sales, most of those consumers are not hardcore enthusiasts or big spenders. Plus right now consoles are quite expensive and the worldwide economy is weak. The only GTAVI console that's seen as a borderline reasonably price now is XBSS. For the causal crowd, good enough is just that, good enough.
My PS4 friends have only ever had PS consoles since PS1 or PS2. The fact that some are seriously considering an XBSS, tells me that the potential for a big sales boost is more likely going to favor MS instead of SNY. If they get an XB, most of the others will as well. Not sure what I'd do myself at that point because I'm not exactly thrilled with SNY's first party output this gen.
