I had already posted about F.E.A.R and Oblivion I believe, both really great, probably 9/10 for each.

Since I posted last time I finished Crysis, which was a pretty impressive experience. I really like the first 2/3 of the game with the sandbox-lite level design, great weapons and abilities. Of course also a technical marvel, for 2007. It clearly shows now that it isn’t anymore, but it does look good. What really impressed me was the sound design and soundtrack though, very well done, super immersive. Also the physics hold up very well, a lot of modern games don’t dare to be as ambitious with those.
The game goes in a more linear direction in the last third, there are still cool moments, but it becomes a bit more generic.
Overall an 8/10

I also played Hitman - Blood Money. Very nice game! Love the stealth and all the options to experiment with the gameplay, level design was high class too, except maybe two stages.
Also an 8/10

I played some of God of War (2018), probably made it about a third through (about 6 hours). All if it however just felt kind of okay. Solid enough combat, solid story, solid puzzles. But nothing that blew my mind, and it was starting to feel a little repetitive. Just wished I was playing the old GoW games instead. I will probably not finish it, life is too short for “ok” games that are 20 hours long. Initial impression - 6/10

I played Rollercoaster Tycoon for the first time, I can’t say I finished it (is that even the point). Just did a few scenarios, but probably more than 10 hours. And oh boy, the hype was real! Ridiculous how addictive that game is.
9/10

Astro’s Playroom, a short experience but overall really fun all around. Not so challenging. Doesn’t quite reach the point of excellence, due to the length, but a game that leaves you wanting more is a good thing. Pretty hyped for Astro Bot!
7/10

Finally played though the first The Last of Us. And yes, overall I do understand the praise. Quite good story, with an unorthodox ending, for a video game. Gameplay was good, with some issues, it clearly pulls from games that have more refined gameplay loops (MGS, Resident Evil).
8/10

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart - I didn’t finish this one. Got maybe 60 % through. Fuck this game, I really don’t get the praise it gets. I liked the series when I used to play it 15-20 years ago, now I question my taste from back then, or Rift Apart is just much worse than the old games. There are the elements of a good game, some interesting mechanics, but they are never used for something great, you never get to experiment enough with them. Instead the game just throws you into shooting gallery after shooting gallery with the same bullet-sponge enemies over and over and over again, with almost zero strategy to it. But I guess it is pretty to look at?
4/10 based on what I’ve played.

Sonic X Shadow Generations - I already played through Sonic Generations multiple times before, and I did it again, still one of my favorite platformers of all time, if not my favorite.
Shadow Generations was a fantastic surprise. It is close to the quality of the Sonic game, even a bit better in some aspects. Very strong mechanics, interesting powers, exceptional level designs, with so many paths and the challenge stages are also good all around. The bosses too. Only flaw is the overworld, which wasn’t that interesting if I am being honest. Still have to replay some of the levels to be sure where it lands. It could be a 10/10, but I will put it at 9/10 for now.

Resident Evil (1996) - First time playing through a game in the series from before 4 changed everything in 2005. RE 1 still holds up really well I think. The tank controls are surprisingly good when you get used to them. The mansionnis really well designed with good puzzles, and the enemies are fun to fight. For sure they increased the ambition for the latter titles, but this is 100 % still worth playing.
8/10

Nice. You got me interested in a Sonic game, don't think that's happened since 1995. Is it worth 50 euro though, for someone who doesn't play Sonic what would be your recommended discounted price if not?
