As for the service. Nintendo games the "save file" was saved to the game. Playstation 1 you saved to a memory card.  Wii U you saved to the hard drive, or a flash drive.

The switch can't save to the game card, can't save to a memory card, and can't save to a flash drive. So the only way to save a file is to A) PAY for the feature and B) hope it is supported.

This is a straight up embarrassment. The fact you have to even pay money to "back up" your games incase the switch crashes is insane. That not all save files will be compatible with the system is just down right high-way-robbery.

So for the benefit of being EXTORTED into having to buy a service(no matter the cost) the benefits I get are.. voice chat on my phone and temporary access to 30 and 40 year old games. We don't know which ones, we don't know how many, we don't know for how long.

Eh, save files are on the Micro SD card (if the game is there). I just upgraded my Micro-SD-card and copied everything, I could keep this on my HD. Well, except for the stuff saved on the internal memory. I think there is an option to choose, if Switch prefers SD-card or internal memory for saving, but once the file is saved, I see no way to change that.
